It looks like the Colts will be in desperate need of a QB. Surgery time for Wentz.

Lol garafollo and Rappaport just stuttered his name out but don't think they'd bring in foles unless it's season ending. I think we'll see what Eason can do

I'm not buying that he's sitting out for 3 straight days because of "tightness". Nagy said something the other day about discussions with Doctors. I don't think you're talking to doctors over some back tightness.

It's the NFL. They absolutely work with a doctor on anything health related with a player.

Not exactly what I'm saying. To label somebody as a pessimist or negative when talking about this team is just moronic. This franchise has done nothing to be positive about in a long time. Some choose to set themselves up for disappointment every year by being "positive" about this poorly run franchise. Others do not and are then labeled a pessimist or negative. So dumb to label people, whether it's "fanboy" or "pessimist".
To name a few things...

The team went 12-4 and hosted a home playoff game with a rookie head coach. Fans were excited about the postseason after a loooong drought. Pace was named executive of the year. We went to the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years (even with shitty QB play) on the strength of our defense. This year, we miraculously drafted one of the top 2 QBs in the class with the #11 pick, filling a decades long roster hole. The entire fan base went from crushing despair to hopeful excitement.

Obviously, the organization has a lot left to prove (displacing Packers as top team in the North, winning playoff games, going to the SB, etc) but to say the Bears organization has done nothing to be positive about lately is deeply cynical.

We have no idea how Fields will work out. We can definitely hope and be excited though.

12-4 was extremely lucky as proven by the last two seasons. Our defense is older. Our QB is not great and has a terrible playoff and primetime record if we even get there. Our offensive weapons don't scare anybody. Our coach shouldn't be a head coach in the NFL. That sounds "pessimistic" but I'm pretty sure most people looking at the Bears would agree.

I don't know why some of you guys argued with me so vehemently over a legitimate concern...

It's not "being negative" if it's objective.

Jesus Christ. Did you tag me out of some need for attention?. You never understood my position. Saying that I think the OL will be mid pack this year doesn't mean I agree with everything Pace does. That said. I won't miss Leno. Yes we'd be better off with him if Jenkins can't go but in that scenario, we aren't winning a SB, LOL. Sometimes you need to cut bait. Did you expect Jenkins to be 2nd string or to pay a Leno $12.3M as a backup and he's been a below average starter for the last 2 years.. Not one GM would do that. Bears just saved $9m they really needed. If Jenkins goes down, so be it. Shit happens but it would be dumber to keep Leno in a year that all the cards need to fall right for a playoff run anyway.

You complained about the picks lost in this particular draft and never stated what you would do differently. Stop bringing up previous drafts and tell me what was wrong with this one since you had issue with it.

Lol, no you're not a pessimist at all. I mean clearly you're being totally objective and not projecting your thoughts on an entire fanbase or anything.

Idk that my arguments with you were specifically about the oline as I think its an issue, I think I argued a lot with you about trading picks to move up for Jenkins
He likes to conflate the 2.

Nobody should be
This but keeping Leno and his extra $9m cap hit was not the answer. It's a deeper issue. We need to cross our fingers and hope it's somewhat sorted but this started with the contracts he paid the previous pair and his ignoring the position until now due to that, I bet he couldn't wait to let those salaries go this year and use that much needed space elsewhere. Pace fucked up but not by letting go of his overpaid vets this year... I hope.

The pre conceived notion of a 7th round pick vs an undrafted is just funny to think about.

Oh he is a 7th rounder why is he getting more quality reps above these other guys?

Undrafted guy comes out of nowhere starts a few games and is now starter - WOW WHAT A GEM.

The difference is between 32 of the last picks in the draft - 7th rounders are all throwing darts in the dark the only difference is draft capital.

That being said, I hope Simmons can grow because rookies did not get a normal TC last year so we need to see what he can do.
This. 7th round picks are for UDFAs you think might sign elsewhere.
