I'm pretty lost. Maybe I need to watch them again too. All I know is the guy showed up dead. I've always been terrible at following television and movie plots. Way too bad ADD not to miss a bunch of important stuff.

Problem is that it's such a short season they have to cram a ton of info into a short about of time. Though it is better than cable TV seasons of 18 episodes of just need less fillers.

Aight here is my problem with this season.... I don't feel like we have a bad guy or group to hate.

The first season you saw these 2 interesting characters embark on a long journey towards hunting down a serial killer/rapist/child-abuser whom was protected by a web of mystery and conspiracy.

This season you have 3 main characters that are kind of interesting all working towards hunting down some person who murdered a scumbag creep with alot of fetishes whom appears to have stolen or lost all of Vince Vaughn's money... and along the way you get to seem them wade through regular old Cop drama crime.... Colin Farrel is a corrupt Cop.... Rachel Mcadams is a slutty sort-of corrupt Cop.... Taylor Kitsch is a messed up former security contractor who probably committed war crimes but appears to be on-the-level as a Cop. I could root for these characters if they were hunting something horrible and scary but really all we know if they are hunting a single killer who thus far we can tell has murdered 2 dudes.... scumbag #1 and it looks like scumbag #2 who worked for Vince Vaughn.... I am sorry I am not all that disturbed about scumbags being killed by other scumbags.... give me something to root for.

Have to agree... I was actually getting bored of Sundays episode as I was watching it yesterday.. I was about asleep when they started the raid... then all that action woke up me.

Yeah the action at the end of cool... but again they were fighting some gang banger scumbags.... I mean it was cool but we cannot even tell how that dude they were trying to arrest fits in to any of the story.

He died at the end and I couldn't even really be like "OMG NO CUZ HE MIGHT KNOW ABOUT..."...

Also side note.... gang bangers using spray and pray with automatic weapons sure do get alot of headshots.

When the crappy B subplots are way better than the main storyline, you have a problem.
The B story lines also aren't that good.
I also keep referring to the characters' real life names. That's how little I care for their characters.

It almost seemed like HBO green lit season 2, and no one worked on a script until 3 days before the shoot.

Also side note.... gang bangers using spray and pray with automatic weapons sure do get alot of headshots.
(chuckles)

Yeah that was my conclusion as well. "HOW DOES THIS BATTLE FIT INTO THE STORY!?"

Dude they were trying to arrest fits into the story because he was the guy that was pawning the stuff taken from creepy city manager's house. Which leads me to my theory:

I'm going with the guy that works for Vince Vaughn (Frank) as the killer. Not sure the guys name, but he is the one that gets told to work as pit boss. In that same scene, he is given the name of the Mexican guy, and when they go off to find him, he's told to stay back for the aforementioned pit boss duty. This guys seems plugged in. Choice B for me is the dude who always refers to the mayor. He would know who the detectives on the case are, and could have them followed - hence the reporters following around Taylor Kitsch.

My problem with the season is that there are too many moving parts. A few too many characters were are forced to care about in a season that is only going to last 13 episodes.

I'll agree with everything said so far as I just watched Episode 4. The whole Shootout/raid was intense and somewhat saved the episode.

I still barely understand the whole sorry outside of Casper being dead, had Franks money, and now the dirty cop, kinky cop, and the in the closet cop all have to find the killer.

I'm sort of rooting for all of them. They all have scabs and warts but all of them are just human beings battling their own demons. That gun battle was EPIC!

True. I also noticed that the regular beat cops weren't wearing vests. Another point that bothered me is that once they were fired upon, why didn't they simply sait it out until more cops arrived with heavier firepower.

The make-up people really made her look different. I was a late arrival with the series and didn't recognize her at all. She always played a "pretty' role. She sure has a great smile.

I've been recording this season but didn't watch the first episode until this week. I'm finally caught up. You guys have covered most of what's good/bad so far but the one thing that sticks out to me that makes no sense is Taylor Kitchs character being involved.

How does that work. He's a suspended highway patrolman. But since he found the body he gets assigned as a detective to solve the murder.

Guy in charge of assigning people: "Well you know how the saying goes, he who smelt it dealt it. You found the body you solve the murder."

Uhm ok.

I think 2 things there.... 1 they said they were going in with what they had because a tactical team would have taken like an hour or something to get there so I would assume they took the majority of the firepower they had available.... and 2 the scumbags were trying to leave.... and they were spraying bullets into the public so the Cops had to make the effort to stop them both to try to protect the public but also to not lose their suspect.

I just found it incredibly ridiculous how many blatant headshots they showed while portraying the gangbanger's style as that of idiots using spray and pray with Uzis.... I mean I get it can happen but it seems obvious they were making it very clear that the only Cops left fighting at the end were our 3 main characters.

I also don't get how none of the Cops had an assault rifle.... every fucking PD in the country has some military surplus stuff lol.

Yeah I know what you mean.... I think in that case the dude knew Kitsch was clean and felt bad for him getting suspended and maybe Kitsch being a former military guy his boss might feel even worse for the guy's situation so given the opportunity to assign him to something like that rather than bench the poor guy you give him the assignment.

Kistch's character works for the Highway Patrol or more generally, the state of California. Him finding the body, and also working for the state of California, is the state's in to investigate the city of Vinci. They justified him staying on the case by saying he's the one that found the body.
