I think my problems is that I figured out the twist after the third episode and realized that the Prof was to Colin Hanks like Harry is to Dexter and then I just couldn't get passed it. I also think they killed the Brother Sam plot too soon. I think they actually have too many characters this season. Why have Brother Sam and the Doomsday Killers both have Dex question his faith or whatever it is he's considering? It feels cluttered. I still like him as a character and Deb too. I like her arc this season. In many ways she's had a harder time dealing with morality, what is right/wrong, dark/light than even Dexter, because it relates to her job and life, as opposed to some cartoonish killers. Anyway. I hope the finale is crazy insane. It will be the right way to end the season.
it definitely feels too cluttered. I thing they were trying to jam so much in there to male up for him not killing a target every episode. I really liked the brother sam part, but I really thought they could have gone much further, especially since the stuff with Harrison's school stopped there too both abruptly. But oh have to remember that they did them together in order to explore decrees dark passenger with sam so that when the time came he felt he could save Travis. But then he found out Travis was gone. Brother was light Travis was dark and it was about dexter trying to choose the path between. He even forsaken his Shepard to try to find it, but eventually realized that the code was much more than just 3 rules. Agree on deb, the shit she has been through its hard to imagine her even functioning. The finale does look crazy insane, but from the preview I feel like I'm not going to like it. And my wife said 'I swear I'd they let Travis kill Harrison I'm goin g to be pissed' and I can't say I disagree but at the same time I can see a lot of storylines to why it would make sense. The constant Quinn stuff is not needed and the computer geek and Batista sister stuff can go, but I guess that is setting up for next season which I don't need right now. I do like the new detective. I like that he's normal, professional, what the character should be, brings the realism back a bit. Think Nell be a good one if they don't go all crazy with him. Everyone seems to need to have some deep alter ego. Captain, laguarda, computer nerd. Next thing you know angels sister will turn freak.

I'm not watching Dexter only because I haven't seen seasons 1 - 4 (or wherever they are). It's on my list, there's just too many other things to watch. Kind of the same thing with Weeds and I'm only partially caught up with Californication (seriously, is there any red-blooded heterosexual man who DOESN'T want to be that character?)

With HBO though, it's not just the original programming... they get better movies than Showtime. And honestly, for the On Demand alone, I'd prefer HBO because I know there'll be a better selection of more current movies.
Seriously drop everything for dexter. Your welcome.

I don't really notice the movie difference because I use netflix mostly. Its sad how much I pay and I always forget to watch the movies.

Dexter has been steadily getting worse as the seasons have gone by. The horrible ineptitude of the Miami Metro PD and the more and more dumb way Dexter manages to not get caught are really starting to bother me. The twist would have maybe been cool, if it hadn't been obvious since the first couple of episodes.

I didnt' think it was that obvious, and I think that people think they knew the twist after it was revealed earlier than they did because it makes them feel better about themselves. So there.

Eh, since they were originally TV series I'll post here rather than the movies/dvd thread.

Just a heads-up to any anime fans but I just noticed that Amazon has massively reduced the prices on a lot of CHOICE anime titles on Blu-Ray! Like 25-35% off their last discounted prices they had them at. That warranted me throwing some coin their way for some series I already owned in Standard format like Samurai Champloo ($17) and FLCL ($20) as well as some series I had never bought before but had on an indefinite "To Get" list like Claymore ($18) and Basilisk ($15). Also of note though not Blu-Ray was The Boondocks: The Third Season for $15.

I am going to think of them as a little X-Mas present to myself? Which in no way distinguishes them really for any of the other shit I "treat" myself to but whatevs, heh.

Im just going to say ahead of time im turning in my man card.

So 2 weeks ago Flipping through channels lack of anything better to watch I watched an episode of the vampire diaries, and immidiately netflixed and watched the 1st 2 seasons.

I thought for sure it was just a TV twilight (while the overall synopsis seems exactly that) It is much much darker and the lead characters arent nearly as lame.

Yeah Margaret is now just becoming a worry wort and it is annoying. I just liked Jimmy, always found him more interesting than nucky, hell if the show had become about Jimmy that would have been fine with me. Also liked the guy with half a face. Felt there was a really good character there and the actor did a damn good job with him.

The first season I liked Nucky, he was cool. The 2nd season he sucked ass the entire time.

Gimme a break, watch the first 5 episodes on netflix, give me that much and then tell me you can stop watching it. The female lead is smokin hot and doesnt look like some sleep deprived meth addict. Also, no sparkling.

One thing I find funny is its supposed to be about highschool students, after the first few episodes unless an episode surrounds a highschool event. With all the drinking boning and killing going on its hard to remember its about teenagers.

But of course theres an angsty love triangle with the female lead.

It's so unfair how the UKers already got all the goodness this fall. I mean PBS will be throwing me a bone in January with Downton Abbey: Series Two and this fall there has technically been Whitechapel which my firend has been recording on BBC America but like you, I have turned a handful of people on to this brilliant contemporary Holmes and we're all chomping at the bit to see Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman bringing the Sherlockian mojo again damnit.
