I really like justified too, I can't stop seeing Boyd as Shane Vendrell which actually works out well because it adds another layer to the story of him being a changed man or not. I keep expecting him to go back to his ways any second, or have alternate plans or something... it's a very good dynamic and casting. From the previews it looks like they are going to take Boyd and Raylan teaming up to a new level this season. Should be good. It's a great show, I'm just not sure who the bad guys are going to be this season. But it doesn't really matter as long as they all die.
Being Human I've heard such great things about but haven't seen any of them and don't really know much about it. I saw the american version being pimped hard everywhere, back of magazines billboards and such. If I remember I'll check it out.
I saw the first season of the american one and all 3 seasons thus far of the british one. They are both very good. I would call them dark comedies. With the British version being a little darker. If you liked buffy or angel you would probably like these.
The premise is, A werewolf and a vampire move in together and try to live normal lives, helping eachother with their....shortcomings in the humanity department and discover the ghost of the deceased female previous occupant still living in the house they moved into who , which them being supernatural themselves can see and communicate with, becomes their unofficial 3rd roommate.
The American version almost exclusively follows the storyline first season of the british version up until the last few episodes of the first season where a major plot point has a different outcome, so from then on out its its own show.
The vampire struggles with bloodlust, and frequently slips up, whereas the werewolf just tries to avoid eating people on the full moon and the ghost tries to occupy her time as eternally undead. The werewolfe and vampire also clash from time to time over the fact vampires and werewolves generally dont get along. i.e. one night close to the full moon, in the American version, the werewolf(Josh) when he is stronger, goes out and curb stomps a bunch of vampires with his new werewolf friend. Likewise Josh is constantly antagonized and used by Vampires from Aiden's (the vampire) past.
A theme in both series, is vampires like to capture werewolves, and have "dog fights" they bet on, or stick a human in a cage with a werewolf.
Theres differing lore in the 2 versions as well, in the American version werewolves seem to age at a normal human rate, whereas in the british version, a Vampire Hunter werewolf had a flashback to when he got turned into a werewolf and it was clearly the 19th century. Mitchell the vampire in the british version avoids drinking blood at all, and eats normal human food, Aiden Gets blood from the blood bank at the hospital he works at but does not feed on people
Overall both are really engaging shows. I like there werewolf character in the american version (Josh) better than the British one (George)(they are both generally pussies, but George borderlines on annoying, Josh is funny). and I like the Vampire (Mitchell) from the british version than Aiden from the american one(hes a brooding self loather, whereas Mitchell is a little more happy go lucky, at least in the first 2 seasons).
I like the ghost in both shows.
If you watch the first season of either version, you will generally know exactly whats going to happen in the other version in the first season. The American version as more mini-plots as the seasons are longer than the british one, but the main story archs in the first season are pretty much the same except for the last couple episodes of the first season of the american one.
of course Anglophiles will never give the american version its due. The did a great job of using the same premise but making the characters unique from their british counterparts.
