By mini series do you mean graphic novel? or like web series or television mini-series? It's good enough that I would seek these things out to watch definitely but I'm just not sure how much money or time I would spend to do it. That's why I hesitate to put it up there on the cult pedestal it seems to be on.

I believe all three issues of the "mini-series" have been collected in 1 graphic novel - just looked it up, it's called, Serenity: Those Left Behind

Watched the first episode of the new season of SOA and Boardwalk Empire. Sons was pretty meh, until the climax. Too much exposition in the early part of the episode, but thankfully there was lots of Gemma, so aces. Boardwalk can be kind of boring, but I thought this was an interesting first episode of the season. Also, where the hell is Chalky White? I do think it was a better start to the season than last year. Things got a bit off as the second series progressed, unfocussed.

I thought SOA was great, but didn't need to be a buck and half like you said, didn't pick up till the end but lot's of foundation, haven't watched boardwalk yet... can't wait.

Thanks Ymo... There are a couple different versions of it at the shop across the street I'll go look at.

I dunno - SOA started off with a pretty surprising scene of Gemma and Jimmy Smits (I won't say anymore for those watch and maybe haven't seen it yet)... I just don't think we've had nearly enough further exposition with Opie - otherwise, I'm stoked for the new season!

I picked up Those left behind, I'll read it before the movie since I have to wait for the wife to watch it anyway. They didn't have Shepard's tale but they had a different one Better Days. I didn't get it because I wanted to see if I liked this one first. It's more of a "side mission" type story I believe that follows inline with all the canon but doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the other stories, It's like it's its own episode.

So last night I started watching Battlestar Galacta (however the **** it is spelled). On Netflix it starts out as the miniseries. If the show is half as good as the mini series all I have to say is "Dear TV executive people, this is how to do Sci-Fi right. The action was awesome. The depth and drama was solid and not campy and dealt with tough decisions (Sacrifice 1000 to save 10000, etc)"

Seriously I haven't finished part 2 of the mini series but part 1 was FUCKING EPIC.

Yes. All of Battlestar is that good. Don't stop till you finish. Take a week off work if you have to.

Wait... it gets a little "boring" for lack of a better word when they start focusing too much on the internal politics of the ship/ships and not on the actual characters. I think got half-way through season 3 and kinda crapped out on BSG.

Yeah, I haven't read Better Days - where Those Left Behind and Shepherd's Tale directly work with the plots of the show and the movie, Better Days (as I'm lead to believe) was more of a bonus story within the universe with the characters you've come to love.

I will totally agree with you about BSG around season two... but if you push through long enough it gets so much better again. You just have to make time to watch as many together as possible otherwise it feels like it trails off.

Are there characters on Battlestar Galactica? I couldn't tell. They were just these boring shells of people and I hoped they would all die! Then I stopped watching after the first season because I was taking too many naps.

I dunno - at one point, it did lead me to look for some erotic lesbian fanfic for Starbuck... which I found.

It was probably all filmed there too.

Yeah but everything is and there are more bad shows than good therefore her mind is clouded with all the crappy TV being filmed there. The goods shows do not lift those clouds.

Its good, but I was depressed when it was over because I literally didnt have a life till i finished it and was sad it was over. I even watched the one season of Caprica afterward.
