That's more than Darnold can do...I'll pass.

I look at it like this. If its for a second round pick, Id rather have him on a one, possibly two year deal over any QB we'd be drafting at that same second pick. Its a gamble for sure, but its not that big of a risk for the possible reward.
What even is Darnold's value? To me, he doesn't seem like he would be worth a 2nd round pick to come to this dumpster fire. If his cost was a 5th, sure. Let's trade for Darnold, and he can compete with the other QB that we get. But if Darnold is the answer, Pace and Nagy are going to look fucking stupid.
Right now, it's looking like they better draft a QB to save face. Because what better options are there out there than drafting a QB? (I have no faith that Pace pulls off a deal for Watson)
Word around the league is that it's looking more and more like Darnold will be on the chopping block, especially since it's looking like the Jets are going to pick a QB at #2. Here's a take on an article about Darnold
"Darnold was never really given an opportunity to really show if he was worth the overall 3rd pick, he could possibly excel if given a solid offensive line and a adequate WR corps."
Well I guess that takes the Bears out of the equation - moving on.

A 4th round pick is probably "fair" compensation, but I'd be shooting for giving them picks in the 5/6/7th rounds. Giving up a 2nd round pick for a bust , who you then have to extend or opt into an expensive 5th year option sounds downright comical.
You could get a better QB than Darnold with that 2nd round pick.I look at it like this. Why? And you can't trade what you don't own. Darnold has a lot of arm talent but he's late on reads and not good on anticipating routes either. Here's a question I haven't seen brought up; how would you feel about a Trubisky for Darnold trade straight up?
The same way I'd feel about trading my dog's shit for the neighbor's dog shit. Here's a question I haven't seen brought up; how would you feel about a Trubisky for Darnold trade straight up?
I'd be shocked if Trubisky is on the roster in 2021. Nagy doesn't think he can read defenses well enough for what he wants to do. Nagy can't seem to change to an offense that would take advantage of Trubisky's skills. Fitzpatrick or Minshew are better options to run Nagy's offense if they can't get a better upgrade. I'm starting to hope for Minshew and Jones.I’m hearing Mitch will get between 8-10 mil. I feel like this has to be the way to go. It’s a safe move that doesn’t cost any draft capital and allows us to still make a move for a QB rd 1.
DONT WANT DARNOLD AT ALL
I don’t think Minshew has shown enough to say that. Also, even as a journeyman I think Fitzpatrick will cost more than Trubisky. I’d be ok with Fitz, but not at sacrificing other FA moves.I'd be shocked if Trubisky is on the roster in 2021. Nagy doesn't think he can read defenses well enough for what he wants to do.
