No to Darnold - he's still a turnover machine just like in college.

Only way I'm ok with mitch is if we also sign Tyrod Taylor or Brisset with him and run the rpo all season

Don't want any part of Trubisky on this team unless they get a HC that will run an offense that tailors to his strengths. I'd rather bring in Winston as a FA than bring back Trubisky with Nagy. At least there is a chance Winston will get better and cut down on his INTs. Would love to see Winston throw the ball to Mooney a few times.

Yeah agree but unfortunately I think Winston is off the table he's gonna start for the Saints.

They're are still plenty of options out there tho just don't like Darnold.

It's not exciting but we can win with ball control offense if we don't give it away and keep the D resting. Brisset, Taylor and Trubs can all run that style but I don't know if Nagy will do it and it's not a great option but I think it could get us a winning season again....

I always felt that Trubisky's 2019 struggles came from three areas:
1. They traded Jordan Howard when they should have had him and Montgomery as a 1-2 punch.
2. Burton got hurt after a solid 2018.
3. The O-Line fell apart.

Maybe Trubisky isn't a Watson or Mahomes, but that does NOT mean he is NOT a good quarterback. With a strong running game, solid weapons around him, and a dominating defense, the Bears would do just fine. The big weakness in 2018 was not having a good kicker. Robbie Gould should never have been let go, and after this year, they NEED to lock Santos up long-term.

So surround Mitch with a perfect team and he MIGHT be good??

oy vey!

Trubitsky is a one trick pony and it’s so predictable.

He has to run boots all game so he only fucks up 1/2 the field. An NFL starting QB isn’t/shouldn’t/never will be successful when he can only mentally process 1/2 the playing field.

He’s already ruined. Can’t handle the speed of the NFL.

I don't see that. His escapability is underrated. He is extremely deft at breaking pass rushers stride down, buying the time he needs, and then lofting passes while falling back. He can run on you if a play breaks down and you haven't accounted for him.

Darnold is probably the most underrated out of Garrapolo, Fitzmagic, and him.

Fitzmagic got the McCown treatment this year and should have been allowed to compete for the playoffs with that team instead of "development" of a QB they don't even seem that attached to. They were clicking when they shut Magic down.

If I was trying to save my job, I would go get Mac Jones/Darnold AND one of Garropolo or Magic. I prefer Magic. Garropolo I don't believe in but that doesn't mean he can't make it in the right fit. I wouldn't give up on him either.

These guys sometimes just need a few factors and experience and the right coach fit.

Darnold and Mac Jones would be nice with Foles and affordable.

I don't think roster sizes will go back to 53 and teams should consider keeping at least 3 rostered QB's.

I don't want the Bears to pursue Darnold or Bridgewater. But what viable options do you think are still out there? There are veterans like Alex Smith or Ben Roethlisberger that might become available. But there doesn't seem to be an obvious available choice (other than Watson if he's even available) that would be a clear upgrade right now. Winston comes to mind but many expect him to be the Saints starter next year and he's not a guy you want to overpay for. Ryan Fitzpatrick is an option but that's a tough sell to a fanbase. Mariota doesn't excite anyone and I doubt even Pace considers him a viable starting option (maybe I shouldn't pay assumptions about Pace). Carr will cost too much for the quality of player you are actually getting and it's not clear if (or why) the Raiders would move him.

To me Winston and Darnold are not even options. Fitzpatrick and Alex Smith(assuming he is released) are both viable options that allow us to still draft a young QB. Fitz will have bigger games but also have games where he has too many turnovers. Alex Smith can absolutely manage the games and Nagys system but you have to worry about his durability.

Darnold and Winston are QBs who need excellent coaching and playcalling. Neither of which we have...

Fitz is not a tough sell to me. He can sling it like jamias and doesn't cost anything.

I think he's got a cuople good years left

Gotcha. If the Bears signed Fitz, they would probably have to use their 1st or 2nd round pick on a QB.
