Keep an eye on John Fox to Chicago

Immediately after news broke that the Broncos and coach John Fox engaged in the latest NFL “mutual parting,” a league source with extensive knowledge of multiple coaching searches suggested that Fox could be headed to the Bears.

It would make sense, for multiple reasons. First, former Giants G.M. Ernie Accorsi is consulting with the Bears. Accorsi and Fox worked together in New York, when Jim Fassel served as head coach and Fox worked as defensive coordinator.

Second, new Bears G.M. Ryan Pace spent plenty of time in the NFC South when Fox worked as head coach of the Panthers. Pace surely has formed an opinion about Fox. If it’s favorable, and in comparison of the other candidates available in the current cycle, Fox could be the best choice

Has he been fired though. That is what I can't find confirmed, yet.

They often aren't fired like that. They are basically given permission to find other employment even though they are under contract.

I appreciate your trying to explain things to such an idiot, but someone above actually stated that he was fired. There is a difference.

It's interesting that...

ESPN and WSCR are all fawning over the possibilities of John Fox here. They take phone calls and a number have been from Denver fans that have been ripping Fox. It's not the reaction they wanted.

John Fox....MEH!!!!!

i think Fox is a good leader, knows how to win, led a Tebowbacked team through the playoffs, definitely attractive to a young GM. Not sure why everyone on here is so pissy about the thought of him.

Report: Broncos let entire coaching staff go

Well, that escalated quickly.

According to Vic Lombardi of CBS 4 in Denver, the “mutual parting” between the Broncos and coach John Fox has been chased by the release of the entire coaching staff.

It was believed that defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio was in trouble. Instead, everyone is gone.

That includes offensive coordinator Adam Gase, who currently is under consideration for multiple head-coaching jobs elsewhere. So if the Broncos, who know Gase better than anyone, have just fired him, why would anyone else hire him to be the head coach?

For quarterback Peyton Manning, the development points to an inevitable mutual parting, too. Peyton despises change and craves continuity. Unless he has a hand-picked alternative to Fox and Gase whom the Broncos will hire, it’s hard to imagine Peyton wanting to return.

UPDATE 6:10 p.m. ET: Per multiple other reports, all assistant coaches are under contract but free to look elsewhere. Which is a nice way of saying, “Pack up and hit the road.
