No reason they need to be either.

I have a GREAT reason why they need to be. TO WIN WORLD SERIES. If Pujols hits FA the Cubs better go after him HARD. Reyes another FA they should go after hard next year. Imagine this lineup

Reyes 2B
Castro SS
Pujols 1B
A-Ram 3B
Colvin RF
Soriano LF
Soto C
Jackson CF

SP staff of:

Garza
Demp
Z
Cash
McNutt

RP staff of

Marmol
Wood
Marshall

That lineup and SP would compete.....Payroll be about 150 mil....See there is a reason to spend money..

Why did you come up with Jose Reyes.

And it doesn't need to be over 150 to win championships... Florida Marlins... Philadelphia Phillies... Chicago White Sox... St. Louis Cardinals... none of them were that high.

Cubs need Leadoff Hitter that can play 2B...i thought he be perfect fit. He will prolly be FA at end of year. So if Cubs could add Pujols and Reyes i think they would be favorites to win NLC.........I want to run my team like the best. The best is NYY. They have the most WS rings. BOS has also won 2 WS since they started spending money. I know just cause you spend money mean u will win but it gives u better shot.

No thanks to Reyes. Injured too often and won't be worth the amount of money he will demand.

Ya, overpayed and injured, like Soriano, but not as much.

There's no way the Cubs could get Albert and Reyes. Stop dreamin'! I doubt the Cbs sign either.

They would be the frontrunners for Albert...

Maybe but the Cubs will not give Albert 30M a year on a 10 year contract or they SHOULDN'T. So I think he re-ups with the Cards.

They are beginning to sucker up in years, but not in money. He just turned down a contract.

Not enough.

Oh yeah I know. Albert's camp wants him to get the biggest contract. If the Cards son't offer him that, he'll test FA and realize no team will pay him that. And re-sign with the Cards.

I was talking to my dad earlier. We looked up some of the best hitters of all time. Most of them start declining at 37-38...So at 31 he should have 6-7 really good years left in him. If your the Cubs do you go offer 7 yrs 35 mil per? I know it sounds crazy but being supposively big market team theres no reason why they cant afford it. Pujols has a GREAT chance of being top 3 player of all time. To me if the Cubs have there Payroll around 140-150 mil that gives Hendry 105-115 mil to build a nice team around Pujols.

Pujols isn't even asking for 35 Million, why would you give him that?
