Personally, I don't think that's happening. Based on the events of the last few days and the information in that press release, it seems like the accuser is just walking away from this whole mess.

Personally, I don't think that's happening. Based on the events of the last few days and the information in that press release, it seems like the accuser is just walking away from this whole mess.

Doesn't certainly mean Kane's side might not take action in some attempt to try to clear open the case further, but I don't think that's going to occur in this situation.

No more hustler filed press conferences though. Though Kane's lawyer apparently thinks she still may make a civil case of it.

And while we will never know what happened that night (barring a civil suit laying bare the details), we know one thing for sure - Kane did not rape her.

Inconsistent stories, no DNA evidence, lack of evidence of penetration that even indicates intercourse occurred.

That last bit is exactly why he wasn't arrested on day one.

Perhaps, but based on this report, any civil litigation will be based upon the premise that she was sexually assaulted (in any way, shape, or form) in which Kane is at least civilly culpable (I.E. she was assaulted at his house).

As it stands now, that may be hard for her to prove in a civil case unless the DA wants to continue an investigation. From the sounds of it--it's unlikely because of this passage:
"The physical evidence and the forensic evidence, when viewed in tandem, tend to contradict the complainant’s claim that she was raped on Kane’s bed. "

Based on the wording, that leads me to believe that not only wasn't she raped by Kane on his bed, but she wasn't raped by *anyone* on Kane's bed.

If that is not a semantic error, yeah. It's looking like she fabricated things...if she did I wish they'd charge her with something, but they won't.

In all this, people fail to forget he was even arrested or charged with anything. The media created such a circus that a statement was put out that a three month investigation was conducted and not enough evidence was even found to CHARGE him with anything, even lesser crimes to get him in and talking. The entire fiasco is why it's so hard to prosecute rape in the first place. Anyone thinking this is over is kidding themselves, he will forever be formerly accused of rape Patrick Kane. Not just Patrick Kane, hell.. he can't even be called Falsely Accused of Rape Patrick Kane because too many people have decided it happened, they just can't prove it. For some folks the accusation alone is proof.

I would feel awful for her..... that would be terrible, truly.

However, the evidence does not support her.... her witness doesn't support her.... her lawyer resigned..... and she is no longer cooperating with the police.

I won't assume a man is a rapist based on her word alone.... if I am wrong and everything has conspired to allow her rapist to walk and someone could prove it to me.... I would feel awful and eat a huge bag of crow.

But the fact remains that Patrick Kane is innocent of rape in the eyes of the law, and even my opinion is not swayed by anything that has been presented.

I fully grasp the other side of the coin DMelt.... but I have nothing in front of me to indicate that her claims might be true, while I have a pile of things that put doubt in my mind about her claims. Maybe that has been fabricated, but until someone shows me something else I won't think of Kane as a rapist or a possible rapist.

That's what I really don't get about the league statement coming out now about being able to look over and judge if anything will come about out of this... like what? Out of an announcement of no criminal charges? That doesn't even make any sense to be a thing considered. I get that in other gravely situations leagues have suspended a guy, E.G. Rothlesburger was suspended after settling a civil suit against him and for admitting some poor behavior but that's not even the case at any realms of any point with Kane.

Let's be real here: even without a rape charge, Kane is still likely a shitty person. Which is fine, if it doesn't affect the team on the ice in some manner.

There are a lot of those out there already. Like I said, only a problem if it affects the team on the ice. I seriously hope this is the final time anything of this nature happens to Kane.
