Dishonored Gets an Incredible List of A-List Actors to Go All Steampunk

Hit Girl from Kick Ass. Roger Sterling from Mad Men. Louise from Thelma and Louise. Princess frikkin' Leia.

The actors responsible for those much-praised performances will all be showing up in Arkane Studios'

highly anticipated alt-reality adventure when it comes out this fall. It's kind of incredible, really.

Publisher Bethesda Softworks let the news of Dishonored's voice cast fly this morning, with details found in the following press release snippet:

Susan Sarandon, an Academy Award winner and five-time nominee, will make her videogame debut as the former aristocrat, Granny Rags – an intriguing old blind woman now deranged after years of street life. Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe-winner Brad Dourif takes on the role of the inventor Piero, creator of the iconic mask worn by Corvo as well as a wealth of gadgets Corvo can use. Emmy winner and Hollywood-icon Carrie Fisher can be heard broadcasting government propaganda over loudspeakers throughout the city of Dunwall, where the game is set.

The all-star cast continues with John Slattery ("Mad Men," "The Adjustment Bureau") who takes on the role of Admiral Havelock, a Loyalist who helps Corvo on his quest, as well as Michael Madsen who brings his videogame voiceover experience to the role of Daud, a mysterious assassin. Chloë Grace Moretz ("Kick-Ass," "Hugo") portrays Young Lady Emily, the Empress' daughter who is kidnapped after her mother's death while Lena Headey joins the cast as Calista, Emily's caretaker. In addition to the star-studded voice cast, Composer Daniel Licht ("Dexter") lends his musical talents to create the game's original score.

There's been an escalating arms race when it comes to getting Hollywood luminaries to play roles in video games, what with Gary Oldman and Ed Harris in Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops, Aaron Stanton in L.A. Noire and most recently Ellen Page in Beyond: Two Souls. But, Dishonored throws down a gauntlet that's going to be tough to beat. Your move, everybody else.

This is the first i'm hearing of it, but if they are going all out on the cast I can imagine the game is going to be good. I'm a big fan of Bethesda, but usually only games that they do not that they publish. I believe Arkane has a good reputation though? So I think it could be a good match. here is another article with a trailer. http://kotaku.com/5914795/heres-dishonoreds-awesome-new-trailer

So I got a new laptop pretty cheap and haven't done any PC gaming in a long time. it's only got 2.5 ghz dual core AMD Turion II P650. ONly 2 gigs ram which I may bump to 4 but I don't think it will be necessary if it can't handle anything. And a shitty ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250. Is there a way to test what the games will look like before I buy them?

Don't know if you have Comcast and get G4, but they have a 10 minute game-play preview for the game on On Demand... looks cool, but a touch complicated... I think it's one of those game that if I find it cheap enough somewhere, I'll pick it up down the road.

Only if there are demos available. I dont know what you would really be able to run with that, if anything.

Id say youd do all right running older games.

Anyone else interested in Darksiders II? The first was a great hack and slash that actually told a pretty cool story... don't know if I need it right away, so I was thinking about again... waiting on it and getting it down the road.

Did anyone pre-order NHL 13 yet and what perk do you get for pre-ordering?

I don't do hockey for some reason... I don't do pro sports games actually... don't know why. And I am about to pre-order Borderlands2 due out next month. Amazon had a $10 credit but not anymore. Everyone has the same pre-order pack but Gamestop has an extra exclusive... I hate gamestop though, for no real reason. So I'll probably just stick to amazon.

I did. Don't know what the perk is. I just preordered so it's at my house the day it comes out.

I haven't but from what I remember you get some vanity thing that really has zero impact on the game. Kinda like those 20th Anniversay gloves that were not only ugly, but no different from the other gloves.

I loved the first one... great hack and slash in the vein of God of War.

I played the NHL 13 demo yesterday. I really like the new skating system although I feel like it's going to lead to a whole slew of new glitch goals. Scoring top corner in the slot is so easy with the L2 button. I think it's going to be even more important to keep players out of the slot.

Left trigger for us Xboxers.

I havent played it, very meh, towards NHL13. But judging from what you said, I like the slot is a hot spot for scoring. It is the prime real estate to score in real life so yeah you should be punished for not defending the slot. The slot isn't even effective enough in the current game so yeah make the slot a gimme if you ask me

Not preordering 13 because I won't be able to get it the moment it comes out. Will likley get it late september early october.

Did d/l the demo and try it last night...what I look away from it.

The new skating and physics is a good step towards better realism, which will be a learning curve--a good one in my opinion. Also, backskating is easy enough to implement.

The minor graphics tweaks are decent enough. Nothing to write home about but things look smoother.

Either due to the physics or the tuner set, it seems a LOT slower than 12...might take some getting used to.

Player speed discrepancy seems large and exaggerated. Justin Williams seems to fly like Stalberg, while Kopitar seems like Sopel skating through solid concrete. Not sure if perception or an intentional exaggeration.

All-in-all decent-looking, but hopefully the glitches get cleaned up by the release date and the tuner set keeps most things more realistic. Save the high-flying stuff for a re-release of NHL Hits.

Here is what they need to fix in my opinion.

Online play needs to slow down.

AI needs to learn hockey 101.

AI needs faster reaction.

AI needs to learn to "see" passing lanes. In BAP I can't tell you how many times there was a sweet lane to me in prime real estate but by the time I called for it and the game decided to pass to me the lane was gone. However a human player would have seen that lane and sent me the puck (actually with other people I do most the sending).

AI Dmen need to stop being able to blind reach behind them grab Xcrease passes, that or give that ability to human Dmen.

Bring back defense, seriously playing D in NHL12 was like slamming your dick in a door whilst all the other entries if you were good at D you made the opposing team's life suck.

Find a balance with hitting, I have high strength, high balance, decent size, and still get rocked non stop and I am talking about hits that should at best make me just lose the puck
