As for Poles' "feelings" should this report be true--I don't care. He made this bed. Time to lie down in it. He had 3 years to turn this team into something. And now, after 3 years--the only thing he has to show for the team he built results-wise is a team worthy of a top 10 pick in the springtime draft.
He was supposed to be the 'OL guru' and he failed, comically and exponentially. He built the team trenches last and now we still are wondering why with all these WRs who can get 'separation' when there's no desired results. He has the dead last OL in the league, 26th year 2, and right now the bears' unit is again bottom 10. I see the trend, but much of this fanbase will stick their heads in the sand.
You need a guy who will do the unsexy thing, and invest in the trenches. Fans won't like it, but unfortunately, these are the part of the fanbase I'm targeting that have to get smarter, because I do believe with the money-loving McCaskeys, that they DO want to appease the part of the fanbase that gives them more $$$. The same people cheering for WR3 with a top 10 pick in last year's draft.
There are already posters on this board suggesting the Bears should take another WR in the first round next spring. Some suggest Safety should go high, too. It's nauseating and stupid, and it still won't fix a bottom OL in the league for three years straight. Having even 1 impact IOL even with 2 OTs I'm highly critical of next year will make a tremendous difference--and the unwillingness from bears fans for that makes me no longer question why this franchise has been irrelevant since 1985.
