How pessimistic are you as a Hawks fan, the Blues haven't beaten us in regulation since the 3rd game of the season. To boot they have been playing like crap lately against all opponents, and we have manhandled them in the past two outings.

I am pretty pleased with our first round opponent.

Q can out coach Hitch like there is no tomorrow. Not concerned about this series what so ever. Only thing im concerned about is our players being ran..however the Blues are so beat up that I doubt they are able to even run anyone properly. MAYBE they should be concerned with some of our guys running theirs? YAH THEY SHOULD!! Toews and Kane are going to be more prepared than Backes, Oshie and Tarasenko. Those guys are a couple hits away from being non factors.

Not to be condescending but have you been watching a lot of hockey lately?

The Ducks, Kings, Avs and possibly even the Wild if they could shore up their D would all be tougher draws right now.

We seriously got the better end of the draws this round compared with what everyone else got.

I knew that going in and I've been around Lake Erie for a week.

Yea so.... we are lucky to not have to face Kings or Ducks in the 1st round.

Blues or Sharks and we got Blues... fine with me.

Nice rant TCD. I like it and I needed a pep talk too. I'm a little nervous about this series like some others here.

Well I am glad I asked then. Overall the Blues season is at the absolute lowpoint right now, starting a few weeks ago there have been almost no positives to their on ice play, and that has been coupled with injuries to literally every decent forward they have.

For the most part those guys are back, but considering some were concussions, and the fact that the forwards in question don't set the world on fire to begin with you have to imagine they are lacking confidence.

Im just trying to stay up beat..honestly im a little nervous too. Steve Ott pisses me off. I'm confident the Hawks can hold up to the Blues when it comes to scoring and defensive hockey but yah they do have a history of beating up the teams they face in the first round. Last thing the Hawks need is to go through the Western conference beat up after the first round if they do infact come out of it. I do really believe though that the Blues do need to look over their shoulders also and are pretty fragile right now. We know the Hawks aren't the highest hitting team but they can poke a few eyes also as we have seen in the past. Guys like Shaw and Bickell are not going to be easy to play against. Keith has been known to take a few liberties also. May not have a team full of thugs like the Blues but we got some guys who can make life hard.

I think we would all love to see Steeg ala 2010 show up. Steeger could be a cog in this series if he finds that pest in him again. But we have been wanting that since he returned. Maybe the playoffs is what he needs.

Ditto with Ott. And x2 to the second bold.

Even my wife was saying that guy just isn't the same anymore.

I think a lot of the series rides on how the refs call them too. If they start letting the Blews get away with their typical crap early, it would probably escalate and get really ugly.

I know points have never been the strong point of Ott's game, but he's been absolutely horrible since being traded to the Blues with just 3 assists in 23 games. I also hate to sound like Foley but he's been a fucking -12 in that same time span. -12 in 23 games with a team like the Blues. That's hard to do.

Versteeg, who signed a four-year deal worth $17.6 million last offseason, scored his second goal in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Lightning. However, he later collided knees with Tampa Bay's Radko Gudas and fell to the ice clutching his right knee. He was helped off, and the MRI results confirmed that Versteeg will need major ACL knee surgery.

A week or 2 ago Steeg on a local sports talk show mentioned his knee is starting to feel better after being a year out from knee surgery.

I expect Steeger to step it up in the playoffs. He's been underwhelming for some time already. I do think that next season he'll be much better with a whole healthy off-season (if he doesn't go out of commission during this run) to get ready

In the last 15 games, the Blues have scored only 25 goals and allowed 40 in that same 15. They were shut out there last two games by Dallas and Detroit, two teams that just got into the playoffs the last week of the season.

Yes, Toews and Kane are coming off injury, but the Blues have 5 guys who haven't played and supposedly three are coming back with very little ice time in practice.

If this is a physical series, the Hawks win since the Blues don't have the health to keep a series like that going. If it is a skilled shoot out, it's over for the blues that much sooner since they don't have the skill to match the Hawks.

And they gave up Chris Stweart, a 26 year old guy with a bright future, also arguably there next biggest offensive threat after Steen and Tarasenko since no one else has cracked 60 point in a season before.

I know he's been hurt quite a bit, but Stewart has been a flash in the pan and done.

There's a reason he's been traded twice, demoted, and basically benched.

I disagree, in the 48 game season last year he had 36 points. and in the year he was traded he played 62 games with 53 points, that is consistency not a flash in the pan. If anything he was hurt by the style the Blues play and more specifically the role they had him playing.

So you're going to omit 11-12 and this season?

11-12 he played 79 games and registered 30 points.

This year he was benched by Hitch and the anemic offensive Blues. Something is amiss.

Why was he playing on John Scott's line if he's overly consistent?

Two bad coaching moves?

I was high on Stewart too, but from the look of things he's got an Evander Kane attitude with a inconsistent skill set.

I guess we'll see when the Sabres trade him this offseason.

No that is a down year for sure, all players have them especially playing on a team like the Blues. But overall the consistency is there.

I can't speak for his benching and attitude as I don't know him that well, but when I watched the Blues the past few years he always seemed to be a presence and he has the numbers to back that up.

My overall point is, to trade a 26 year old with a very good resume and loads of potential for an old guy you might get a year out of is a dumb move. I know it was for Miller, but I feel they could've gotten away with keeping him, also doesn't help that I think the Miller trade is a moronic move.

It was a moronic move with giving up a first round pick alone.
