No that is a down year for sure, all players have them especially playing on a team like the Blues. But overall the consistency is there.

I can't speak for his benching and attitude as I don't know him that well, but when I watched the Blues the past few years he always seemed to be a presence and he has the numbers to back that up.

My overall point is, to trade a 26 year old with a very good resume and loads of potential for an old guy you might get a year out of is a dumb move. I know it was for Miller, but I feel they could've gotten away with keeping him, also doesn't help that I think the Miller trade is a moronic move.

Perhaps.

The Kings benefitted in gaining Gaborik. I really thought he would go to the Blues over Miller.

I'll tell you how bad Stewart is, and how fucking lazy that ****** was. If we traded Stewart for John Scott straight up, I would have been STOKED! Perron was the same way. Add Halakluster to that list. Although, I rather they would have went with Elliot and brought up Allen. We will have Allen starting next year, with Elliot or someone else backing him up.

I think Gaborik was more of a need for the Blues over Miller. With how well they were limiting quality shots they were set with what they had.

Hahah, always good to hear it from a fan. I will bash your team with you any day.

To not pick up St. Louis, Vanek, Gaborik when they were very available is a true headscratcher.

The only reason I culd see this happening is ability in pressure situations within this millenium.

Simpson took Everett nowhere.

Like Carruth, Labarbera backstopped the Winterhawks to the Memorial cup--thing is--it was '98 and he was the backup.

I don't think Khabi sees the ice ever again. I think he's still pissed at the advertising deal that put that Ketel One swill in his water bottle instead of the good old Russian Standard.

I don't know about the rest of the depth netminders.

Carruth backstopped Portland all the way to the Memorial Cup Finals. I think that's what they're thinking if one of Crawford or Raanta go down. We'd be pretty much screwed if anyone below Raanta would have to take the reigns, so why not go with the guy who has pressur experience a level or 3 below the NHL?

The Blues were 2nd in the league in scoring, and Halak was a headcase. What would your GM do?

Carruth had an awful season...probably bringing him in as a black ace to look at him, his daily work ethic and let the goalie coach work on some things with him.

I surely hope I am wrong, but I am not nearly as optimistic about the Hawks chances this year as most others here. This is not based on who the opponent is, but on how we have played. We were pretty good through about Thanksgiving...right around 1st overall. Then we decided to stop being patient with the puck in favor of jamming it forward into trouble, getting it stolen and shoved down our throats. There has been constant dialog about improving but since late November we were around a .500 team and just kept talking about knowing what we had to do, but never did it on a consistent basis.

These are the same traits I remember observing in 2011 and 2012. I am now, as I was then, REALLY HOPING we have a magic switch to flip and get this thing right for playoffs...but I am not holding my breath or my playoff beard.

Regarding our opponent...

I am worried about cheap shots from Backass, Jack-man, Lapierre, Reaves and Steve "the eye gouger" Ott. I thought at the trading deadline that the blues addressed the wrong things

1. Nothing against Miller but they were strong and deep in goal before, IMO

2. The dirtiest team in the league added another goon.

Still it all comes back to whether the Hawks will play the game the "right way." Finally. Suddenly. Now!

It's a fair cop, guv. I see no fault in your logic.

Still, I think that in the playoffs if we need to delve deeper than Crawford or Raanta, we're screwed like a teenage prostitute in Kobe Bryant's hotel room.

That is usually something I dread as well. But Hitchcock has said that type of play hasn't worked against the Hawks so I expect a very clean series from them. :icon-rolleyes: Jackman won't be going after Kanes bad knee or Backes won't be crosschecking JT up and down the ice either.

I would still expect it from them, though. If emotions get strained I will expect douchebaggery from St.Louis.
