The only time the 'Hawks struggled in this game was between Hossa's and Brunner's goals. Other than that, they were large and in charge. Howard was outstanding tonight. Better than Lundquist could ever be at this point with the same onslaught.

You must have missed all of game 6 and 7 then.

But Crawford was magnificent tonight.

Welcome to the new atmosphere of the UC.

I said the same thing when the "Howard" chants were happening when it was 2-1. At that point it was 1 bounce away from being a tie game and giving the Wings a bit of confidence.

The Howard chant at 3-1 was priceless! The entire building was doing it and he DEFINITELY noticed it!

SEABROOK with the save of the game! That save should have gotten him a STAR! He doesn't make it, it's 3-2 there with 4 minutes left.

Here's a question... did they turn Cornileson up?

I went to a couple regular season games and I couldn't even hear him in the 300 level.

Then tonight in an opening game of the playoffs I could hear him perfectly clear. Do they crank the anthem singer up for national broadcasts?

Sharps also tied for 1st in playoff goals after tonight and just slid up the points totals column also..tied with Crosby and just one behind Iginla. Krejci and Malkin still lead with 13. Not that it matters but its always fun to see a Hawk player up in the stats esp tied with Crosby....yah P Sharp is currently tied with the leagues poster boy.

Sharps got some nice clues happening. And like he said in his post game..."a lot of it has to do with Kane". I think Sharps being slightly humble though..he's having a hell of a playoffs so far. Kane certainly helps of course.

Another nice current stat.

Hawks have 4 blueliners in the top ten +/- amongst blueliners in these playoffs. Oduya, Keith, Rozsival, Hammer all in the top ten right now.

I know stats aren't the be all and end all but these ones are pretty impressive right now regardless.

Was the UC loud? The broadcast mentioned it was awfully quiet there most of the time and you couldn't really hear the crowd until the end after the Hawks scored.

I cannot comment directly on yesterday's game, but I have noticed that sometimes as the ticket resale goes up the noise goes down. You get a lot of bandwagons in there...

That was sarcasm from Grim.

A couple of days ago he was talking about how underrated the Wings were, and predicted the Wings in 7 games.

Kind of like...god forbid Q knows what he's doing with his roster when he sits a player. He's won a couple of games in his lifetime, and this thing called the Stanley Cup

Great game once again by the Roszy/Oduya pairing.... GWG, +3 for Johnny boy. And he schooled Clearly a few times

Bolland started a bit rusty/timing off....it has to be hard jumping right into that. But looked better as the game went on.

Saad was bad in periods 1 and 2...but had a really good period 3. Hopefully this is will get him back on track. Q is doing a good job with him.

I thought Craw was fighting his rebound control all game. Gotta be hard when the D goes so long without allowing a shot but he came up big with a few saves

The great Mike Babcock tried loading up/juggling his lines and couldn't outwit Q.

I wonder if Stalberg got the message?

Well said.

Also, Bowman took a lot of heat from fans this year on his lack of acquisitions. Both before the season and prior to the trade deadline. If the Hawks can do it again this year, it'll be VERY hard for people to build a case against him.

The best players/coaches/GMs/refs are always sitting in the audience and posting on message boards. It's always been like that and will be so until the end of time.

You got that right. The prior Hawks message board I belonged to was just relentless towards Q and Bowman...it annoyed that hell out of me. I guess it's easy for others to give opinoins on how to spend other people's money.

Oduya's biggest problem is the play he made at the end of the game, where the puck went RIGHT onto the opponent's stick in the slot... He had another pretty terrible turnover shortly before he scored as well. He has to eliminate that brutal turnover from his arsenal. He has at least 2-3 of those every game. He's been fortunate enough to this point that it hasn't ended up in the back of the net, but he won't always be so lucky. Other than that, he has played well.

I think Roszival has been one of the Hawks' best defenders through the playoffs so far. Seabrook, aside from saving that goal last night, has been pretty terrible. Is he hurt? He's slow as shit out there and I've never seen him fall down as much as he has recently. He got knocked off the puck by Nyquist last night too, which should never happen... He just looks completely off. Hammer continues to be a rock, Leddy continues to play well, and Keith has been Keith for the most part.

Toews, Kane, Sharp, Hossa, and Saad looked fantastic. Carcillo was a total waste out there, and Handzus is still absolutely brutal. Shaw and Bickell were pretty much invisible, aside from the two bad penalties. Kruger 0/11 in the circles was especially hard to watch. Currently 35% in the playoffs, and 6/27 on the PK... He has to get better. I have no idea how the Hawks' PK is as good as it is, when he loses pretty much every single faceoff to start the PK.
