If we only had Alexander Karpovtsev instead of Seebs. and Dominck Hasek in goal.

I'm going to have to strongly disagree Detroit outplayed us by a long shot.

I have to disagree there(after my emotions cleared up). I thought it was overall even. I mean the hawks hit 3-4 clean posts and had a disallowed goal, it was a tough break away from being a completely different game. The Wings Murdered us in the circles and plays off the faceoff period though, that needs to change.

1st period: even.

2nd period: The hawks practically spent the first 5 minutes of period 2 in the wings zone. After that the period was shit.

3rd period: Even first 10 minutes, then the hawks decided to play hard when it was all but too late.

BTW, I wanted the Hawks to play the Sharks when we were talking votes on who we wanted to play....while every one wanted the WIngs....well doesn't that match up seem a bit more delightfull?

They're down 2-1...not 3-0

Howard's played very well for them. Last night wasn't abysmal by any mean. Hit 3 posts, Shaw's goal should've made it 2-2. The Hawks pumped out 40 shots last night.

Toew's is pressing/frustrated for sure. But he hit a post and had 7 SOG. He's a key if the Hawks are going to win anything. I don't (and don't think anyone does)...expect the Hawks to beat anyone in 2 playoff series if he can't score a goal in either of them. He's known as the "engine" of the team...and I'm sure he's putting a boatload of pressure on himself.

Hossa needs more. It's been very spotty with him, IMO. I think he can relieve pressure for Toews if he gets it going, but has been average at best. I'd wonder if putting Kane with Toews would be better.

Bolland...would be nice if playoff Bolland would show up at anytime. He's a 6yr vet on this team and they really need him to be a positive factor in the game.

There's a long way to go in the series...and they just need to win one in the Joe. Either thursday or game 6.

I just watched that Shaw no goal again. What a terrible call. He never made any contact with Howard, and was continually getting knocked down (interfered) and into the crease - and he was making conscious effort to NOT hit Howard and stay out. He was even bumped by the second Wings defenceman...and still avoided Howard. The ref was right there - terrible, terrible call.

My favorite teams
 1. Portland Timbers
 1. Chicago Blackhawks
My thoughts:

Like many have said Toews just needs to shut up and play. Next thing you know he's going to get crosschecked after the whistle and act like he's been sniped from the rafters. Get him a psychiatrist; or better yet, have Hossa, Sharp, or Saad sit him down and lecture him on keeping his composure.

Saad/Bolland/Kane were flying last night. They need to keep this line. In fact, at the start of the second our play tanked when Q tried to put Saad back with Toews and hossa. Coinicdence? I think not.

Rosival/Oduya looked like shit warmed up.It would be hard to break this pair up but something needs to be done--even if it's giving Brookbank a whirl (who would be hard-pressed to do *worse* than Rosival has the past couple of games).

Our guys need to stop taking bad penalties--like Handzus and Bickell. It's very hard to come back when we're constantly killing stuff off.

I wouldn't be against Emery starting the next game, but let's be honest; none of these losses were on Crawford; any softie in the past couple of games he let in was when the game was already over and done. A shakeup in net just might give guys like Toews the rectal craniectomy they need.

Q needs to stop trying to outwit Babcock and just let the boys play their game.

And lastly. Bag skate the guys.

I felt the wings might score every time they entered our zone, I didn't feel the same for the hawks

Anyone one notice that when we pulled Crawford that Handzus was the 6th man sent out and he immediately lobbed a soft wrister to Howard with no one in front of him. WTF?

Handzus is a big body and goes to the front of the net. The idea was probably to get traffic infront of Howard

I think some mention (I have not read every post here) should be given to Babcock v Q, which Q is losing hand over fist.

Toews play may be in question, but he is being stopped by Babcock. He recognized Toews as the shepard and has shut him down with Eriksson getting in his head and Zetterberg on the ice for every second Toews is. To me, that is coaching.

I dont think the Hawks played a bad game at all. I think that with Toews shut down, it should have been recognized by coaching and other players needed to step up where perhaps they didnt. Numbers are similar and even favored the Hawks. 40 shots and Howard let one. 22 PP minutes with nothing to show.

To me at this point, I see the Hawks outcoached more than anything.

So Babcock is on the ice, stopping Toews....Where as Q needs to get out there and win a few faceoffs? Or play the body on Nyquist to not allow him in alone on Craw? Or Q needs to pick a corner on a clear cut breakaway (Sharp) instead of hitting Howard right in the crest or glove?

LOL...nice

Well, they pumped out 40 shots with only 1g. I wasn't expecting them to win 1-0....unless Q has a stick in his hand and it putting the puck right in the crest, not sure why that's his fault.
