finished prey. it was good, but not nearly as great as its often made out to be imo. in fact the same game has pretty much already been done better a few times between all the system/bioshock games. the main issue i had was that while it started out strong, by the time i was half way i had already seen everything it had to offer. i was back tracking through all the same areas and the story never really engaged me, nor was it particularly well told. and maybe a stealth approach would have been different, but thats not my thing at all, but combat got stale as well. its ok in small doses at first, but for a whole game its pretty meh. you have all these skills to develop but i feel like they were superficial not really changing the core mechanics much at all.

i just started dying light. i like it, and enjoy the gameplay loop, but i fear itll become repetitive and ill lose interest long before finishing the game. but who knows?

Aw ****. If franchise mode don't work, then I'm out.

Again, I wish real outlets were covering this. The madden fanboy coverage is so bad. All bullshit hype. Haven't seen anyone even try a proper review that is more than just a list of features.

franchise works but its slow when navigating and trying to do day to day shit. im waiting like a minute+ to pull up my roster, then another minute to pull up free agents, another minute to pull up the trade menu, another minute to repull me roster, another minute to pull up the leagues teams screen and like 30 secs to cycle through each team. that shit is annoying to me.

i like being able to plow through seasons... now if i wanted to spend an extra 20+ minutes setting me shit each new league year, id be fine.. once you get your roster straight the actual week to week wouldnt be too bad.. ill run another franchise tonight n time duh shit..

now if your just simulating right through, that does seem to be quicker than the last few years i played, but still not as quick as say the ps2 days. Perhaps its my internet connection. i know its pulling data and saving certain shit to the cloud, i just dont know if that's my issue. im on slow ass rural aussie interwebs getting 10-12 mbps on adsl2 still... my burb suppose to upgrade our infrastructure this year.. they was supposed to last year too though..

so if ur mo patient.. itll work n be fine.. or if its the interwebs.. ud probably be fine.. idk.. i dont have another set of data to compare me experience to

i do love how trevathan, and roquan smith aren't system fits.... oh, nor is duh mitch, allen robinson or cohen...

well madden be had another update and franchise seemed a little quicker today, but the delay is still noticeable for me. btw i'm not installed on an ssd n like i said.... slow interwebs..cloud. i mean am i too entitled to deal with 25 secs n shit.. last night was longer n pissed me off.. tonight was.. meh.. i can kind of live with it..

started a new franchise.

to bring up fa screen took 15 secs once and 30 secs the second time.

trade screen took 23 secs

depth chart 25 secs

duh screen did have a lag fart and stalled while i was cycling through at one point.. seemed to happen during a music track change.. it took about 30-45 secs to correct before i could continue doing what i was doing..

made two credible trades that would happen every day of the week.

TE Sims and 5th rd to Dal for their 1st rd pick, valued at #26.

CB Prince, 4th rd, 6th rd to TB for their 1st, valued at #11.

It took me about 20 minutes to set things up to get to training pregame of preseason 1.

Training took about 10 minutes running drills on o and d.

game took about 40ish minutes. playing 6 minute quarters.

Players are earning exp points during their play, during da game and xp attributes when reaching milestones.

After the game was finished, one player earned enough xp to be manually upgraded...duh L Floyd. they gave me four choices to choose from... speed rusher, run stopper, something and something. i took speed rusher and it bumped up two attributes 2 points each. this took leonard from a 79 to an 80 overall.

Looked through Trubisky, Miller in their player profile.. theres a player progression history in there. they both had attribute upgrades after/during the game by reaching milestones. mitch got a +1 confidence for a rushing td and miller got a +1 confidence for 7 receptions. im not sure if they earn any other kind of attribute boosts for milestones.

btw there is a practice squad.... mitch is eligible... and yes you can poach other teams practice squad players

now that all my preseason preseason shit is over and game 1 of duh preseason was be tested... i may just sim dis entire year and go to the draft... not really worried about xp for this run through... i just want to get to a full offseason and see how smooth that is.. eventually id probably play through an entire season and do all the training, especially if im trying to develop players... haven't tested how much xp is earned during a sim vs played game yet... will get back to ye on that..

so.. simmed a few years.. major bs ..

so i traded away one of those extra bs firsts i got for another first the following year.. i ended up with the 6th and 13th picks that year.. anyway the draft is suppose to start n the shit never really starts.. the draft screen doesnt move.... i keep cycling through shit to see if it would trigger a start and it finally did. da computer made my pick at six and started me at 13 wtf was that bs. i missed me QB.. they took a decent 80 over LB (with superstar development) at a position of need.. left me taking an 80 ovr LT @ 13.. but they still fucked me out of mitchs replacement..

mitch is arse.

team goes

5-11
5-11
5-11

i dont know what they mean about fixing exp and player development. perhaps if you play the games. i just simmed shit.. if you is playing, youre gonna win and go undefeated anyway right.. thats no fun..

now i can say after yr 1. roquan had 7 manual skill points to add.. bumped him from an 81-88. after yr two he only got 3 points and 2 points after year 3. however he did win droy, so i dunno if that gave him extra points or not. he was a 91 after yr 2.

anyway, out of me 53 man roster, only one other player had more than one skill point to add yr 1 (CreVon LeBlanc had 2 points to use). several starters had zero. yr two 2-3 players had 2 points and year 3 it was about the same. i guess losing probably doesnt help.

when adding those manual skill points to categories.. the attributes and the points added seem random. sometimes its two categories, sometimes its 4+ categories ranging from +1 to +4

the players seemed to progress and regress after the season aside form the manually added skill point bs. long went from a 79 to a 75 after yr 1.. so he be got shipped to save on cap

i dont really care for the scouting.. its trash...

i attribute the losing to mitch... n the rodgers ea love affair..

i traded shit and signed some decent players but left mitch to run the show n nada.. sure me squad aint stacked but its better than 5-11

mitch
3100 19 td 14 ints yr 1
3700 17 td 17 ints yr 2
3200 20 td 10 int yr 3

It shouldn't really be that much data uploading. I would be surprised if the problem was your internet.

Im just putting it out there as a possibility. Especially since I dont have data to compare my madden exp to. Plus, our shit is slow. @10 or less mbps days, true DL speed may be slightly under 1MB sec and upload speeds are a joke.

continuing on dis.

started another franchise today to do the full on purge. you know, trading the entire squad minus a couple of peeps before preseason ends on yr 1.

mitch is on the block... hopefully someone offers something next week.

some of the trades i made last go around didnt go as smooth this time around. howard for nelson straight up didnt work... it required more. the dream for dat Ryan Ramczyk.. it required higher picks than i was willing to come off of this time, so not nice RT.. i forget what i shipped off da dream fer anyway.. he gone, long gone, leno gone, daniels gone, danny tre gone, prince gone, howard gone... cohen be starting as the #1 rb.. seeing how he develops in that role.. if he develops.

the shit is running smoother today. it could have been EA server side shit that had been fucking with some shit. idk, im still not clear on the issues. I had been having issues connecting to mut the last couple of days. tons of server issues..... while im not playing mut this year, i had been going in and out to check the auction population.. just to better gauge the amount of ppl playing..

neway, no issues connecting to mut so far and franchise seems a tad bit quicker and smoother today..

okay heres what i be learned about franchise development bot.

so instead of just simming fru da season, i went through each week and manually simmed me teams training sessions every week. you can pick one training session for the offense and defense. each session will focus xp on two position groups from each side of the ball... so fer example... rb/ol, ol/qb, wr,/rb etc etc. plus you get to pick three players per week for some extra boost.

you can sim the training manually and it will be bronze by default. you can also play the training and earn up to gold--maxing out xp earned. whats is nice, is that once you play the training manually, you can then sim it the next time and it will use the medal you earned for it while manually playing it. so those bronze sims can become gold.. saving time in the long run. just make sure you gold a couple of different combos depending on what position groups you are training.

i saw regression after duh season went into the offseason. what i had thought was progression was me adding their skill points right before i went to duh next season and then the screen refreshing their new overalls. i upgraded a player midseason and refreshed the screen and it changed.

instead of just simming through the entire season, i be had an entirely different result by manually/simming doing these training sessions each week.... mind you, i did sim week to week through preseason and probably up to week 4 before i went in and manually started to play to see the difference in xp boost vs a simmed one. this is when i figured out the medal thang and reusing it durning future sim training sessions

at the end of the year i had multiple players with multiple points. roquan was nfc droy again and had 10 skill points at the end of the year built up. he finished yr 1 as a 92..started as a 81???. Fuller had 4 points, callahan 3, floyd 3, a miller 3 etc etc. oh i meant callahan develops okay.. not leblanc..

also scheme fits matter... those players get extra xp during training..

bears still went 5-11 in my tank attempt.

I had hackenberg (64 ovr) running the show.. he threw for 4000 yards 25td 17 ints and ended up earning 2 skill points.

Cohen could not take on the feature back role. da **** got hurt twice, missing 11-12 games on the year.

I tried to trade Mitch and two 5th rd picks to Arizona for Glennon, but the cardinals turned it down.. christ.. I ended shipping his ass off to the dolphins for a 3rd.

Now that the game is running smoother and im figuring out development, franchise is okay i guess. wish the UI was betta.. but eh.. btw you can also play offline.. and for some reason, i swear i didnt see that option before. starting a new will give thumbs up if quicker

offline even smoother n quicker... as it should be.. but the cloud shit be faster afta whatever they did on they server side

think ive had enough of dying light. i wanted to like it despite its numerous, glaring flaws, but everytime i come back to it it pisses me off more and more. im a good number of hours into the game and combat still sucks ass. zombies take like a dozen blows to the head with crafted weapons and quests are constantly pitting me up against a dozen armed humans. not to mention everything about the game is clunky as hell from the controls to the UI. i felt the same way when i tried to play the devs earlier dead island and gave up on that much sooner. so while this was an improvement it wasnt much of one.

thinking about giving pillars 2 a go.

still tho, that should be plenty fast enough to not be a bottleneck. Just sayin.

Well, my favorite thing to do in single player is to take the bears roster and progress them all to studs by just playing a few seasons. I always found in the past that you get more progression by playing cause your stats are usually way better.

Everything I have heard about dying light suggests its main strength is playing with a friend and not taking it seriously.

well then you probably need to figure out a good clock to try n maximize defensive numbers for the whole squad too. I dont know if you can max this squad. you can try i guess. BUT this isnt like madden 03 or whatever older yrs... or maybe it is idk.. i remember back then... when you won the sb you got development boosts n your squad would just wreck da world.. i remember win 10-15+ straight sbs just simming n any new free agents n rookies id bring would continue to hit 99 in this sb win loop

you could always cheat if youre that guy.. cause you can edit their attributes n shit at any time in the season too.. u could max everything or even change their development trait.

speaking of players development traits.. ive noticed normal, quick, star and superstar levels.

im the gut the team, tank a yr n build guy..

i think if i start a new franchise, itll be about trading for as many players with superstar develop traits as i can find.

After trading fer both Nelson and Ramczyk n finding out they is superstar dev.... they be in the 90s in no time and fit the scheme

i also b noticed i trained a couple of players who were technically not scheme fit, but were borderline by their numbers. after a few skill points towards the scheme, they became scheme fit players and got that xp bonus.

I've tried multiple times to play it. I know people love it, but I just can't get into it. To me it's boring

Yeah, I'm not into simming is my point.

simming can be bs.. but i wont lose if i play against the pc.. so i just sim n get abused by madden with its bs dice rolling.. started a new franchise.

yr 1 7-9 with chad kelly
yr 2 9-7 with 72 ovr rookie qb who finished a 80. no playoffs
yr 3 13-3 lost wildcard. 3 stars got hurt the final two weeks. me squad was still better than some 8-8 ****. bad dice
yr 4 14-2, 1st rd bye. lost divisional round to an inferior team. mo bad dice

i traded howard, mitch n a pick for fournette year one.. howard is good though. so its not an outrageous trade, even though it aint happening in real life... i saw howard on the fa market as a 91 overall, while fournette was a 94 at the time.

players development traits can change too. that 72 overall QB fell in the draft. he was a 1st rd guy but after scouting, it revealed he was really rated as a 4th rder. apparently the pc knew this as well and dude dropped. I still took him because he fit me scheme. i was surprised to find out he still had quick development as a trait. after yr one, he bumped that triat up to star and after year 3 it bumped to superstar. hes like a 92 or something now.

roquan be a 99 in yr 3 or 4 i forget. takes 2-3 years of possession training for allen robinson to take on the scheme. took a couple of years for daniels at center to take on the scheme too.. he really took off yr four after that.. 88 overall by the end of yr 4 and the second best center in the game. a miller is a 90 overall at the end of yr 4.

me team is actually pretty developed n deep.. the only weak link be my kicker n punter.. i never use sessions to develop them.. well me te is fucked going into yr 5 cause i havent developed any.. i let burton walk afta yr 4

found a trick.. my LOLB now is a 99, one i be drafted. but i drafted him as a power rushing ROLB who didnt fit the scheme. in this game the bears default scheme has speed rusher as rolb n power on lolb. so i draft said power rolb and just changed his position to lolb in the edit.. instant scheme guy after the change and he developed fast as.. so look for that trick at OLB and DE.. old school madden franchise position flipping tricks.. de's to olb n vice versa.. but this was more about scheme fitting
