Fun fact, I've never sold a single piece of tech I've bought.

Never once.

Not like its all in great condition or anything, just don't sell my stuff.

One day ima be the old dude the next generation of American Pickers come to see.

"OMG you have an original N64?!?!? AND A SEGA GENESYS??!?"

"Bro are these AGP graphics cards?!? DUAL CORE CPUS? SINGLE?"

"I don't even think they make thermal paste any longer"

I sold my PS2 to my brother to buy an Xbox. Otherwise, I still have everything all the way back to Atari 2600. I let go of my Sony Trinitron CRT tv when we moved, and I still regret that. I have a stand up arcade I'm always thinking about selling. It's not in the greatest of shape because I found it in an alley after one of the many Chicago basement floods and got it working again, but it is a rare game that is a cult favorite.

you mean next generation of hoarders? any missing pets theyll find?

if i hadnt moved so much in life i def would have a larger tech landfill.

i still have a couple of pcs in the garage but did take a few to the dump awhile back. sold off a bunch of monitors. gpu shortage time had me sell off my hoard of old gpus.. they were going for msrp+ on old arse cards. great time.. but still have plenty of parts imma probably toss too

did build an x79 pc out of scraps for the garage a month or so back. e5 2667v2 8 core 16 thread 3.3-4.0 ghz.. so still capable

been thinking about getting rid of a few older consoles and collection of games.. cause they have just been sitting there untouched for years. ive been sitting around myself for a couple years with time at my disposal and dont touch them, so if i get rid of them, more space for shit i probably dont need or wont use.

but been going through the house getting rid of stuff we havent used in years.

im not some minimize me life zen person, but getting rid of shit thats not being used has been nice.

For sure next gen hoarders, but if you can make money off their obsessions...

No judgement on selling/trading, I was just realizing I never sell stuff, even if I don't use it I keep it for ?????

No offense taken from a 7d2d vet. What is offensive is the amount of retail boxes my household has collected over the years. I breakdown the ones i can and store them that way but the Styrofoam ones stay whole. Not to mention instructions, spare bits and other inserts. Felt great ridding the place of the majority of them and other stuff.

Well until the wife was like i told you we should have kept such and such. After needing to use something for the first time in half a decade after partying ways.

Im fozzy, i buy, sell..buy to sell, sell to buy.. rarely trade though

Damn gotta say, 3070 to 4070S is a nice jump. Its not something crazy like 100% and what a jump to 4080S would have been. Its roughly only 45% by synthetics, but real world def notice the difference.

Only tested cyberpunk. But ran around in 1440p and 4k. All the smoke and mirror tricks are nice. Didnt trying Path Tracing with 4k but at 3440x1440p card still pushed 60fps path tracing @ high. Too much of a hit to use path tracing imo, can play at 60fps if it were all that but 144hz monitor so i want to maximize that. Ray tracing High was around 100-110 fps though with dlss/fg. Def may keep Ray Tracing on in some titles now. Normally kept it off unless playing Minecraft. the extra VRAM helps. 4k was more enjoyable too.

Def the lil raster/rt i was looking for. Still might look @ 9070/XT when that comes out since i can flip this for a profit if need be.

Would you say a 4080 super is worth the price in comparison to a 4070? Because I think I’m leaning one of these ways.

Where i live 4080S 1.5-2x the price of 4070S, but 39-45% more performance. With the launch of the 5080 being meh, Ive seen the 4080S also go up a few dollars here and there, depending on AIB maker.

Given the deal i got for here, maybe not worth playing 1200 honga konga dollars more for a 4080S. But my deal is an isolated and uncommon occurrence here as well. for 5-600 more at new vs new and my use case, still not worth it to me

If i were after an even better 4k and RT exp, id shoot for the 4080s. As of now my 4k panel is only 60hz, if i had a higher refresh rate id def want more FPS. At 3440x1440p the 4070S fits for the majority of games minus a few that most cards cant push at higher settings. Plus im using all the Nvidias smoke and mirrors. if you want to use less of that, sure you need a better card. If i ever get my 5k2k panel im going to be targeting a different gpu to push it for games.

Looking at murica and just micro center 4070 $549......4070S $599....... 4070 Super TI $799 no 4080S in stock. however stock i have seen is 999-1099

I think 4070 Super Ti is 20% less than a 4080S in synthetics. However only 16% better than 4070 Super for 200 more?

However in a few years is that 4070 ti super and 4080S 16gb vram going to age better? Are you a VR gamer that can eat up Vram or high refresh ultra 4k person now where maybe that 16gb and slightly better performance vs 12gb benefit you more.

i think a 4070S is a good entry point. its slightly better than the 4070 and only 50 dollars more at micro center for 13-20% better and 1k+ more cuda.

Just comes down to your use case. sure ppl with a 4070 or70 Super might upgrade next cycle faster than the TI SUPER and 80 Super crowd, but they also paid a lot less. the minimal power saved will add a few cents to ur next budget in 3-4 years time. what if you take the 2-500 saved and invest that for 3-5 years and use it towards your next card.

Edit: if you can get a deal on used prices, that changes everything. that and store sales/deals

Also after long session gaming on 4070S last night, def much cooler too. an easy 10-15C cooler on avg vs my 3070 which could become a fucking space heater. good for winter though

also unless you find a deal, might also want to wait a month or two for 5070/ti numbers and 9070/xt price/performance. i was waiting but fell into a deal for honga konga. 5070 and 5070 ti dropping late feb iirc. 9070 and 9070xt late march

5070 FE suppose to start at 549, FE ti at 749.. how does 5070 one perform next to 4070 super. 5070 ti vs 4070 super ti. dont even know what the 9070s are gonna be about, but may not interest you since you said that youre out on XT. the 5070/ti could bring some used 4xxx cards to market too. estimates on the 5070/TI performance vs 4xxx gen is looking meh raster wise, but newer tensor core gen, 4x fg etc will have them better there.

i didnt see much bottlenecking with my ryzen 7 3700x with 4070s, but am still going to upgrade to 5700x or 5700x3d. x3d slightly better for gaming but i do other shat and the normal 5700x better there. im staying on AM4 for a few more years

if anyone on ryzen 3xxx or less aliexpress selling R7 5700x for around 110. 150-160 for the 5700x3d. probably been this cheap there for a while, just havent been in the serious market to upgrade AM4 cause thought about AM5.

me 3700x still sell for 75-100 shipping included on ebay.. so pretty cheap upgrade in a sense and will keep this rig going for a few years longer. been meaning to do this for awhile but was too paranoid lazy to update bios on b550 and thought about am5. never like updating a bios cause im always paranoid power is gonna flicker or sumin.. but got it out da way finally today, so ordered a 5700x.. a lil better for productivity as opposed to x3d which is a lil better for gaming.

Been playing Grid Legends. Single player only don't want to compete against people online.

It starts with a story mode with cut scenes starring real actors. I even recognize one from something. And they don't suck. After the story mode part you get control of your own racing team. Buy cars upgrade them get sponsors etc...

After about 20 hours it got boring. The game is just too easy. Even cranking things up to hard it's too easy. I won several races from last place.

GTCW the last month.

Trying to get one game where it actually runs 1861 and finishes in 1865.

More difficult than you'd think.

saw gta v released enhanced edition on pc today. looks a lil better with lighting and and reflection with added ray tracing, but doubt id replay it just for that.. does feel like it runs smoother game and menu wise when just messing with it. def not distraction enough for me to forget gta 6 isnt dropping on PC when game releases for console.

anywho its free if you own gta v on pc.

gaming lull, nothing interests me after finally replaying and finishing Mad Max n beating RE4 remake...
