It does taste like soap to me. Cilantro is a weed.
I've had this argument before because apparently the minority of people think it tastes like soap, but the majority of people have some sort of defect so it doesn't, it just tastes amazing....

I wonder how the minority of people wouldn't be considered to have defective taste buds, but whatever. Apparently you are tasting cilantro correctly and I am not. Although I will take it, because I enjoy it.

It's all good. I do use it sometimes but sparingly. I substitute with flat leaf parsley many times.

I have to say that a good cilantro forward salsa is one of my favorites.

I'm a big cilantro fan.

Traditionalist tacos with cilantro, onion, lime.

In a thai cucumber salad with avocado and bird's eye chilis.

Nice. Since you live there. Can you tell me what is the difference between salsa and pico de mayo?

Two things.

Consistency and is it cooked.

Tomatoes are cooked for salsa...

Pico is raw

Cilantro aversion is genetic. The soapy taste is picked up by those genetically averse. No one is right or wrong. Not harmful, allergic, just don’t likely.

That's a salsa thing...

Nah, not always. Salsa just means sauce. I've had it with raw tomatoes and cooked, in restaurants and homes all over the southwest and elsewhere. In fact my in laws have a restaurant in El Paso. Fresh tomatoes.

That's salsa fresca. There is a difference. That is closer to pico. If we are talking traditional salsa you cook at least the tomatoes.

Any Jarred/canned salsa has cooked ingredients.

We were talking about the difference between salsa and Pico. It is pretty much two things cooked/uncooked and that Pico is chopped and salsa is usually blended.

There, of course, is the minutae that we could get into. However, we were talking about the general differences.

Someone has to be wrong. Otherwise why would we argue about it?

I'm kidding.

Typically if you don't stew and skin your tomatoes you are making chicken beak.

You have a point. I've been reading about fruits and vegetables lately. Skin and seeds are self defense. Meant to be harmful. To ward off predators.
