Where Should I Live?

Wanderin' old soul. I feel same way sometimes. Did you enjoy Nashville when you went?

Auspicious beginnings, ya know what I mean?

I've actually never been. I might head that way in the next few days though. The worst part about Austin is there's no cool cities like 4-6 hours (driving) away. New Orleans is 8, but that's it.

I've actually most enjoyed this summer thus far. If its hot and humid chances are a awesome thunderstorm is on the way. If its sunny its around 75-80 and pleasant.
I just want to be a beach bum with seashells in my hair and a margarita- I want hot and humid everyday lol. Na seriously though, this winter was so rough I just want hot.

I love good storms. I foolishly somewhat storm chase if one is near my town. Got a cool picture of a funnel cloud a few weeks ago and was really diggin that nasty storm t that dropped a tornado in Morris a few weeks bad. The clouds were churning crazy style- that was a rush!

San Fran is clearly the best choice is you are making good money.
Chicago is a good second choice if you can handle our winters. Everyone bitches about how shitty winters are but summer totally makes up for them.

I hope you're right. So far this summer sucks. It rains every other day and today it's too fucking cold for shorts and a T shirt. Wearing jeans and long sleeves in the middle of July sucks.

Lol. No. At least not in my opinion. I'll take a afternoon thunderstorm in the summer every day that's done in like an hr or two vs. months of gloom, freezing cold and snow. F that. Also don't pretend like it doesn't get hot / humid as **** during the summer in IL too.

You must have resided in IL a long time ago, hot humid summers here are a distant memory.

And even when there is one, which has not occurred in 5 years...only lasts for a month or 2.

Florida stays humid from May until the first cold front in the Fall, every year.

The traffic in and around Orlando is almost as bad as Miami, yet no beach...mine as well be in Atlanta.

I'm thinking about a move. I'm not considering all of these cities and threw a few in just for fun. I hate the cold. I'm single with no kids. My professional background is tech and finance-related.

a. Portland
b. Nashville
c. Boulder
d. Denver
e. San Francisco/Bay Area
f. Chicago
g. Asheville
h. Los Angeles
i. Seattle
j. New Orleans
k. other

If you have money, move to nyc. If not you will live in a shoe box.

I've been here for about 15 yrs...so true. I would take the longer stretch of heat and humidity though for our winters. Typical day is 65-70 and not a cloud in the sky. Re Orlando traffic, depends on what part of town really. I don't have to **** around with downtown and the attractions...only on I4 for like 5 mins on my commute. As far as beaches go, I can get to NSB in about 30.

NYC would probably be #6,421 on my list of cities I'd consider moving to.

Same here. Basically a bigger, dirtier Chicago IMO. I don't get the appeal, but to each his own. Don't mind going there for business, but no way I would want to live there.

I have a buddy that really like Austin, TX. It sounds like a lot of fun but he doesn't really want to settle down there.

Yeah, Austin is a blast. Also, Texas has a healthy economy. Nash-vegas is a good time as well. Chicks are hotter in the South.
