ASHEVILLE –
It's not just buildings and fences in the West Asheville neighborhood where Catherine Campbell lives.
Even some trees get tagged by vandals using spray paint to leave their signature.
"The tagging has exponentially increased over the last eight weeks," Campbell said.
Asheville records show she's right — about tagging and graffiti in general, problems the city has acknowledged and is working to address.
By the numbers

7,097: Number of cases during the first eight months of this fiscal year in which Asheville city crews covered or removed graffitti.
$31,530: Cost of graffiti removal so far this fiscal year.
Graffiti arrests
2011: 19 arrests.
2012: 28 arrests.
2013: 24 arrests
2014: 2 arrests through Feb. 26.

I was in Seattle for a summer weekend before. Nice place, but what I remember was that the sun was still out at around 9:30pm, which was kinda cool. Anyone been to the San Juan islands up there? Been thinking of taking my woman for a weekend getaway there.

I'm thinking about a move. I'm not considering all of these cities and threw a few in just for fun. I hate the cold. I'm single with no kids. My professional background is tech and finance-related.

I just don't get why attention whores who are artsy have to be so goddamn open and, I don't know, attention whor-ish. I come from a family of artists and everyone has their own expression and frame of mind, but they don't have to dress like a dickhead to express it. THATS why I hate hipsters and dumb **** wanna be hippies. So I'm sure I'd hate asheville lol.
I have unfortunatley heard that Austin has been overtaken by hipsters, which is such a shame considering normal clean cut bros like myself dig Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt and Ryan Bingham all the same but don't have to express it the way hipster toads do-- which is to annoy the hell out of general public to say "Look at me! I'm different! Look at me!"
Ugh. What a shame
A personal crusade to spread the word on the evils of Asheville. I don't think they would like you anymore than you would like them.
OCD, right wing, delusional, crusaders would be the weird ones down there. It's probably best for everyone for you to stay away.
Apparently you missed 2012.

Drunks.
Jobs, sunshine, great food and beer. Sounds awful.

I've been here for about 15 yrs...so true. I would take the longer stretch of heat and humidity though for our winters. Typical day is 65-70 and not a cloud in the sky. Re Orlando traffic, depends on what part of town really. I don't have to **** around with downtown and the attractions...only on I4 for like 5 mins on my commute. As far as beaches go, I can get to NSB in about 30.
It was 1995. 2010 was fairly warm too. In all unusually warm is the key word there. UNUSUAL. Its not usual to have 90+ degree days all the time.We had no winter that year either, folks riding motorcycles in Jan. followed by 80's in March.
Unfortunately, the odds of a repeat are not good. In the past 20 years, only 3 summers have stood out as unusually warm...1988, 1994, and 2012.

1955 is the hottest summer ever with a 76.4 average
1995 follows closely at 76.3
2012 at 76.1
2010 ranks 9th all-time at 75.2
1988 is 11th at 75.1
You stated that summer in Chicago isn't hot anymore. I gave you data that states otherwise. Minus this year and last year and a few years mixed it, we've had pretty warm summers over the last decade. And your point is...I should research meteorological stats?.
You're way too concerned with other people's personal choices. It shouldn't bother you this much.
