I forgot Wendel Clark... and while not necessarily a star - they did have Greg Millen for a bit...

___

I'm pretty sure that the team management would have liked him to have broken his stick with a cross-check attempt... but -well, whatever.... why bag on guys that aren't relative ---

which reminds me - - - how is Akim Aliu doing? Did the Jets organization dump him yet?

Gilmour, Orr, Housley, Bondra, Fleury, Goulet (not as horrid as others on the list, but belongs)...off the top of my head here...there's probably more.

I'll defend Bonzai. I was in the crowd for his 500th against the Leafs.

Highlight of that season.

edit: hell, Theo was worth it just for the "And his mentor in Chicago is going to be Bob Probert" line that was printed somewhere. That was a riot.

Here he is, at the local tavern:

Lol..

Man, don't put my man Goulet on that list -- it enabled the team to dump that stiff Sanipass... that alone was worth something...

What was that guy that Foley went off on named? The Russian guy? That wasn't Bobo Mironov was it? For some reason I think it was a different guy.

Then there was Rob Brown... I liked the Fleury choice though ... that had trainwreck written all over it. Kevin Miller - and wasn't Dave Christian on the team for a few games too? Then there was Tony McKegney ...

Well, I suppose it could go on and on...

but the first guy I noticed this phenomenon (as a fan - and I do remember the Orr try on but that was a little before my time as following the sport that closely)... Bob MacMillan.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Arizona Wildcats
God I remember when the Hawks came to Phoenix and I was at the game...

Scott had a breakaway and I was so excited to see him score, but he didnt

I imagine his goal celebration to be the equivalent of a lineman scoring a TD in football...really ugly, but funny as hell

Seldom scoring Bob McGill- from what I understand he used to do the Moonwalk (at least when he was with the Hawks).

I think you've become too focused/narrow on the fighting aspect. When Scott is in the lineup (and he doesn't even have to drop the gloves), the opposition adjusts (and kept in check, or as Carcillo put it--"kept inside their shoes"). I agree with this, and I think this is what Dews is loosely referring to (not to put words in his fingers - I may be wrong).

The "Scott Effect."

I agree with this as well. If the NHL wants to cut down on the guys playing tougher than their normal style get rid of that damn instigator penalty. Then we will see how nice John Scott can be.

I have to give John Scott props. He never did give us dumb penalties trying to get someone to drop the gloves. He stepped up when he needed, Jumped in when Campbell was hit after a whistle, had Vancouver players scared to lay a check when he was out there.

He did make a difference on the ice, but I would like to see him become a better hockey player. It's not worth the fear he puts into others if he is going to be slow and terrible.

So you would rather give up goals then have someone coming at our guys? Carcillo can play and enforce. That's why we got him.

Never said Scott had to touch the ice, plus goals are going to happen regardless of who is out there. He played in a few games were he only got 1-5 shifts. If thats what you have to do to stop the cheap crap then so be it, I'd dress him every night.

Yeah we did get Carcillo, but he isn't going to enforce. Yeah he fights, but most guys pick him apart. Sure he gets other teams guys to mix it up in any way he can, but if it's dirty what stops the other team from doing it to can the next shift?

I don't care what you guys say, who agree's or who doesn't, but when John Scott is in the line-up his presence is known.

^^^ I'm one who disagrees that his presence is known. Nobody in the NHL is afraid of John Scott...because they don't have to be. He isn't going to give them the business in the corner, he isn't going to rough them up in front of the net, all he is going to do is fight then 1on1 IF the other player chooses to - which he most likely won't. Seabrook, Brouwer, Smith, and Bolland all took cheapshots in the playoffs with Scott in the lineup.

Hey, I'll agree to disagree though...all valid opinions.

Anyone see Hossa becoming a whipping boy if he doesn't put up better numbers?

Some fans might. Smart ones won't because they realize the impact that he has on the team isn't shown through most of the stats people look at.
