Yah, maybe this is me being a biased Sox fan, but Liriano's numbers this year are very deceiving. He had a 9+ era before the bullpen move. As Dews pointed out, since returning, his last 11 starts have been solid as an overall body of work.

I truly believe that KW talked to Cooper before the trade, with Cooper insisting that he can work on Liriano's release point.

I wouldn't bet against it as I've said multiple times in this thread. But lets not pretend like he has been a consistently good starter and that it is really, really unlikely that he could remain bad for the Sox.

i think his numbers go with his health.

right now he is pitching fine, seems healthy. im eliminating all the BP appearences and going with all of his starts to get an idea what we are going to get.

**** yah, **** them. ;)

But agreed, it's all about the playoff push. I really like how we stack up against the Rangers, not so much the Yankees. Almost as important, though, is winning the division because with the new wildcard format, you only get 1 game AND you have to waste your best pitcher in that game, thus screwing up your chances in the series to follow (if you win the 1 game). If you can't tell, I really hate the new wildcard format :)
It's 2005 all over again boys!

I'm not sure I see the correlation, atleast up to this point. In 2005, we led from start to finish, with an incredible division lead for the first 3/4ths of the year, with a near collapse to the Indians later in the year, only to go 11-1 in the playoffs. This year, the Indians had a fast start, we have taken the lead for a while now but only a slight lead - at that, and most "experts" still have the Tigers as the better team. So... not sure I see the similarities :)

But I'm hoping for the same result at the end of the year!

I meant the predictions, 2005= 4th 2012= 4th or 5th depending on if they were glass half full or not

Another steal for Kenny. Hope that he can make another move now. Interest in Floyd has been talked about and I would be fine with trading Floyd in a package for a guy like Shields or Johnson or some type of ace.

IMO...this is a pretty bold move by KW. It could pay off, although I think Liriano will always be inconsistent. Before the Twins benched him this year, his ERA was around 12. But once he got off the demotion and was let back into the rotation he was pretty damn good, up until the last series. If anything the rotation will now have a #5 or 4 guy, and this will force the Twins to spend some real money on their pitching staff in the offseason.

Twins spend money?

I see them doing the same thing they do every offseason, buying low on high reward trash heap players until they can develop a decent starter through Rochester, and remember onebud, I'm a Twins fan as well.

Bring back Radke?
