Can you really get that excited about a guy who broke his leg falling down the stairs?

Baseball players have the craziest injuries  It's supposed to heal up by spring training though so I think it'll be fine and he'll be ready to go.

If that's the standard, then I'd have to say that Keppinger in his career has been a lot better than Brent Morel so far :D

To be fair, he's not completely clueless. Keppinger isn't a bum; he's definitely useful as a contact hitter who doesn't strike out a lot and can be plugged into different positions all over the diamond. The problem is that he doesn't do anything particularly well. For the money paid to him he'll give you about what you would expect.

He hits well, and as I looked up, hits into double plays well which I would expect for a slow contact hitter.

Jeff Keppinger's SLG was 19 pts higher than Morel's OPS in 2012

Hannahan is still in the mix and I doubt he gets paid that much. If the White Sox get him I think they could have a pretty good platoon at 3B with Keppinger vs lefties and Hannahan vs. righties...maybe?

I did look up the splits and Hannahan doesn't have a significant platoon split, however Keppinger is obviously better at hitting LHP. His career splits are probably a result of skewing due to early career sampling, but the last year it's obvious he hits righties better.

ANd it's higher than Adam Dunns from 2011. Has nothing to do with Jeff being a bum based on the points I made.

Careful, he'll dislike rep ya. ;)

And then in typical Capt Serious fashio he dislike reps those that nail him for his bad comments because he can't make a meaningful contribution.

Beckhams is good defensively but sucks ... at hitting

He has been below expectations. No doubt. That said, He was more dominant a 2 hole hitter than Youkie was if you eliminate the first six weeks of the season last year. It appeared Beckham figured it out finally then he got shipped to the bottom of the order. Was the only guy really making meaningful atbats in Sept for us and basically had just as many meaningful hits as anyone else on the team all season long (check it out http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.cgi?id=beckhgo01&t=b&year=2012) Beckham 17, Dunn 21, Konerko 19, Rios 17

I don't think you can use that small of a sample to say definitively that Player X is better than Player Y. If you look at the career as an aggregate, Jeff Keppinger is better than both Beckham and Morel in terms of offensive production. I think you keep Beckham around because a guy with a good glove is very useful to a team. But based on the information we have to look at the big picture, there's very little you can use to say that Morel and/or Beckham are better than Keppinger. This doesn't mean Keppinger is a superstar. It just means he doesn't suck as much.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Army Black Knights
My feeling on this is :meh:. I wanted Youkilis back, but you know how economics works in sports. At least his OBP is decent and that's what the lineup needs. Of course, this doesn't replace the On-Base deficient areas of the team (cough Alexei cough Beckham cough Viciedo). Fielding wise if brett 05 is right, it's a step down, offensively if you take away Jewkilis' HR's it's a lateral move.

Kepp struck out only 31 times last season. He puts the ball in play.

And the Dews to the list of those that act like children when being repped.
