The other thing to consider in this trade stuff is that I believe one of the strengths of this team is the friendship and respect that I see between the Cubans on this team. IF anything, I build on it, not trade it away. You can argue about this all that you will but I do not trade the senior member of the Cuban group(Alexi). They really have a great thing going right now and I wouldn't wanna screw with it.

Ya know what friendship and respect get you? 4th place in the AL Central..Maybe even 5th.
He is a good 32 year old SS who is loosing his range and is not really a gold glove SS anymore. He can get you the best pitching prospect or the best hitter. Better trade him now with high value than next year or year after that when he has no value. Better to trade a player a year to early than a year to late.
I'd be ok with kicking in a few million if it nabs you the top prospect of an organization
so how do you build a team than? danks will be dealt so you i guess have sale,q,rodon (maybe) and you need to get a number 2 if rodon struggles.
we still need a DH if dunn doesnt resign, probably a catcher, closer etc

Sure. All of those are needs. But in the process of building a team, I think that you'd better be very sure of what you are doing if you give up a short-stop like Alexi.

I just said that it was a consideration. Except for Alexi, all of those guys are young and Alexi is an all-star. All of the Cubans have done pretty well on this team. I am not saying not to trade them, but a smart team takes all things into consideration before going forward on a trade. What influence, for example, was Alexi in bringing in the other Cubans to this team? We do not know that answer do we? Getting Abreau when other offers were out there, some of which may have been better, was probably the best move the front office has ever done with a free agent. Right? That's all I am saying. I just do not believe that it is just a coincidence that we have a strong Cuban contingent on this team.
