Oh, please. LeBron James cannot guard any of those players one-on-one (especially the bigs). He always has plenty of help of defense closing in the traps and shot-blockers, athleticism, and length all over the place. LeBron is far from the GOD of defense. Great defender but that isn't enough to put him over the top as the MVP.
A large proportion of NBA games go down to the last two minutes. Miami has 3 great players and decent depth which is enough to win the vast majority of games without coming down to the wire and win them even without LeBron altogether. In those instances where their team needs a final shot to win, usually LeBron just doesn't get the job done.
"On road trip LeBron has guarded: Marcus Camby, Pau Gasol, Earl Watson, P. Millsap, G. Wallace, Kobe, Metta & Steve Blake to name a few." - Brian Windhorst
HE HAS GUARDED THOSE PLAYERS ONE ON ONE! What the hell are you talking about? He is the same size as Howard and Pau! Why is that so far-fetched? Quit pretending that you watched the games where he actually did that stuff if you didn't actually watch it.
And his being a far superior defensive player to the other players mentioned in the MVP race should definitely be a factor. Why else has Howard's name been mentioned in MVP races in the past? Why has he been top 5 in MVP races over the last few years? Stop the madness...
