The general consensus is that Kevin Martin is an efficient scorer. Why? Because he shoots near 40% from 3 and shoots a high percentage from the free throw line as well as getting there a lot. His fg% overall is like 44% which isn't too far below average (if average is like 45%). If you look at TS% (some people like that better) he's at like 60%. That's pretty darn good...

FirstTimer also said something about Martin being a 41-43% shooter or something like that. Looking at his stats, he only shot less than 44% in like 3 seasons (in the rest he shoots 44% or better, usually around 46-48%). One of them was his rookie year when he was playing 10mpg and scoring 3ppg. The other 2 seasons he missed nearly half the season. Though Martin is an injury prone player so that might be moot...

***** you serious?

Why would I give credit to Martin for shooting like shit AND being hurt?

What's there to be serious about?
08-09: 51 games played
09-10: 46 games played
10-11: 43.6% ~ 44% = not that bad

His career average is 44.5% and last I checked that's greater than 43% and not really inefficient.

Because generally the more mintues he's played the worse he has shot?

Martin's last 3 years shooting have been an embarassment.

LOL at 41.7% and 42% from the field for a SG.

At least when Iverson was shooting 42% he was winning scoring titles.

Generally his highest mpg averages have come in season where he only played a little over half the games. His highest actual minutes played was in 06-07 and he shot 47% that year. How atrocious. And yet even when he shot 42% his TS% was still 60%. Terrible.

And it's hard to win scoring titles going against guys like Kevin Durant and Lebron James.

And generally he gets hurt. So the more Martin plays, the more he gets hurt and the worse he shoots.

Awesome!

Don't care for TS.

Well good thing Iverson wasn't up against Kobe, Shaq, Lebron or McGrady!

He had it easy.

Martin is actually very efficient. He has a 60% ts%. The highest guard last season was at 61.7 and Wade was at 58. Martin gets to the line a lot and is a decent 3 point shooter.

Generally everyone shoots worse when they get injured, but damn that Kevin Martin for doing so!

Sorry that you don't like a more effective way of determining how good a player actually shoots.

Martin isn't on the same level as Iverson anyway so why compare the two? Because they both happen to have had seasons of low fg%?

He has a higher TS% than Kevin Durant. Apparently doesn't count for much.

B-b-b-b-b-but guys... His combined FG% of two's and three's is 43%. That means he is inefficient for some reason!

Let's just forget that close to a half of those attempts are three pointers and 43% would be absolutely disgustingly good. Instead, we are going by the logic of OMGZ WAT IF THEY WERE ALL TOOZE??

It means jack shit.

Kevin Martin being labeled an efficient scorer based on TS% is like CO defending Soriano as a good defender based on ranger factor.

There's shitty exceptions to every stat.

Martin's TS is drastically inflated because of his FTA.

TS% means nothing to me. It meant nothing to me this year when people were creaming over Derrick Rose about it. It means nothing with Kevin Martin.

Kevin Martin is so efficient the more he plays themore he gets hurt and the worse he shoots.

That's.

Fucking.

Awesome.

So let's completely ignore high free throw percentage and the high number of fouls Martin draws per-game and simply label him as an "inefficient" scorer.

And then, let's make condescending statements just for the sake of doing so.

Yeah let's just ignore shooting 43% from the field overall too!

Let's ignore everything and just look at his broke ass looking shooting motion.

LOL at you still trying to prove anything on this.

And then, let's make condescending statements just for the sake of doing so.

You new to the internet brah?

So Martin's efficiency is inflated because of his high number of free throw attempts (which increase someone's efficiency)? His TS% looks efficient because he does things that increase efficiency? How the heck were we fooled by this joker? And he shoots worse when he gets injured! What an atrocity! He should be shooting better!

Congrats on restating what I said.

Polly want a cracker?

And he shoots worse when he gets injured!
He also gets hurt when he plays more.

Nothing screams "efficient" to me like a guy who the more he plays the worse he shoots and the more he gets hurt.

What a joke. Way to make claims with absolutely nothing more to back them up than the point of '43% is BAD!'

And, yeah, I "ignored" that "43%." Especially when I broke it down to the 38% from beyond the arc (efficient), and the 45+% from two-point range (efficient).

When you are the type of player who can score in high volume efficiently, do you know what that makes you? - A great scorer.
