If we want the our presence known we need to do what Dodgers fans did to McCourt and Marlins fans are currently doing to Loria. There are just way too many Cubs fans for this to happen and the atmosphere at Wrigley is too good to pass up. This season I have made an effort to see them more often on the road

Cubs fanbase is full of sheep.

That being said the fan base is going to eventually get tired of this garbage and will expect the owner and Spedstein to follow through with this WS propaganda they have been preaching about.

It's only a matter of time and they are running out of words.

I disagree. Big time.

Most adults can easily pass it up because a bad team playing bad baseball isn't worth my hard-earned money to watch at Wrigley. Period.

They haven't even tried to improve the team after three entire offseasons already.

Looks like the owner is really hungry to see winning baseball in his stadium.

The atmosphere for me depends on the team. If the team is damn good, and wins its peaches. I remember a couple years ago Bonds hit 753 and 754 in a crazy 9-7 game where the cubs beat the giants (people were freaking out because Bonds woulda hit 755 if the wind didnt take it foul.) I sat in the bleachers and got drunk, but Derrek Lee was driving in runs, Rami drove in runs, the cubs were clutch and fundamentally sound. It was a back and forth fun game to watch. That's an experience. When I'm not boozing it up, I do like to keep an actual scorecard of the game.

I wont sit through Rizzo, Valbuena, Castro, and Castillo still "learning the ropes;" where one game they put up 7 runs on 15 hits then the next make a rookie who's been shelled by every competent team look like a first ballet hall of famer--unless its free, and I'm planning to get hammered.

The park doesnt mean shit, especially the food. I dont eat the food there; Yeah I'm cheap and go to Bacci's 2 doors down if I'm going to booze. I really dont admire the ballpark. It's one of those things for me where I've grown up and live straight down Irving Park, and still do, so its Wrigley. I dont find it as a baseball mecca coming from bumblefuck Iowa.

They had one full offseason and the offseason of 2011 when they took over. So I'd say maybe an offseason and a half

I asked this same question around the gym this AM, and the overwhelming response was atmosphere.

So basically fans don't really care what's on the field, and therefore don't consider wins and losses when overpaying for the atmosphere.

There is something to be said for a stadium that is old is Wrigley is. It's part of the experience...the history. Many go to the games because of what the park stands for and the fact that many want to say that they "experienced it" or that they "were there". That's the thing about history, many like to hold on to it because they feel it has value in some fashion.

To be honest, I went to many games just because of this. As soon as you walk through one of the aisles and get your first glance of the field with the ivy on the walls and the fans....it gives you goose bumps. Most of the "experience" happens before the first pitch. So, it has little to do with the game.

Many of the older fans are naturally pessimistic about the Cubs and probably do into a game "expecting" them to lose. A win is just a bonus. It wasn't about a win or loss, but about taking the family there so they can "experience" a little bit of history.

I haven't even had an itch to go to Wrigley since Pinella left. I have plenty of family there in Chicago and there's just better things to do at the moment. I'd much rather go to the casino and gamble five hundred dollars than go watch this shit.

I've been a fan for over thirty fives years and have seen enough of Wrigley and have gotten more than my fill of it.

I want to see something more than pure shit on the field, if I'm going to pay to watch it, at this point in my life. It's about winning baseball games and the excitement of a playoff run to keep the season interesting. Not watching the season tanked before it even starts and talking about draft picks and free agents after two weeks of the season.

This owner and his lemmings are fucking idiots. Never quite seen anything like it.

I have been there plenty too and since I don't live in Chicago anymore; I really have no intention of going. I don't even want to go to the Nationals games when they are in just because they are garbage.

Fans overpay because they are free to do with their money whatever stupid things they want to as they wish.

I pretty much just pay for the CTA pass and the heavily discounted ticket and nothing else though :smug:

i guess all those people who dont care about the cubs or the game, have nothing better to do with their money then to spend it on a ticket, parking, and beer,,

Interesting you mentioned Lou, it has always been my opinion he was hired over Girardi to sell tics.

If you're smart you do exactly what the Chief's fans did last season and protest publicly during the games.

The fans threatened not to come back the next season if Hunt didn't get his shit together.

The fans forced the hand of the owner to make things right. I believe as fans we need to do the same.
All that means is that tickets will be cheaper for the bus loads from Des Moines.

I don't understand this mentality at all. How can a person be a Cubs fan for over "thirty fives" years and then say "its about winning baseball games and the excitement of a playoff run"? How many playoff runs have the Cubs made in the 35+ years from 1978-2013? How many winning seasons have they had?

Sounds to me like you are the lemming.

You don't understand because you can't read.

But leave it to one of the board's massage therapists to point out something from left field.

Would you care for willrust's hot rocks on your back ?
