You could see Baez getting a big head as it happened. He is young. This is part of it. This happened to all the other Cubs not named Soler/Schwarber last year too, because they were young and playoff inexperienced.
Baez's head blew up like a balloon with each piece of attention, to the point that I think he started making plays harder than they were to be "cool" and center of attention (the right infield pop-up where he "misplayed it" and fell down). He is swinging for the fences every pitch to be center of attention.
Its fucking sad and he is swinging as bad as any player you will ever see right now. Its embarrassing. Indians have his number. Probably Francona is all over it.
He needs to not let it effect his defense, and we just need to hope he runs into a mistake pitch for his confidence before this thing is up.
