Pujols be 32 this year and if u look at his last 3 years eveyrthing has dropped. Im not saying Pujols isnt a great player. I think he is and will be top 3 player of all time. Fielder always been a big guy. He very athletic for his size and i dont see him falling off the earth anytime soon. Again prime years are considered 27-32. If you sign Fielder ur getting all those prime years. Then only 3 years out of his prim. Where Pujols u getting 1 prime year and 7 out of it.

Most guys aren't as overweight as Fielder.

Regarding Pujols, his numbers have always been at a level that one could call excellent. If a down year is .304 and 30+ HRs, Ill take it.

I understand team losing 85 games with these guys making money and where if kids play they lose 90 games making league minimum. Why pay these bums to lose?

We're getting better through value. DeJesus & Capuano are better than Colvin and Cashner. We aren't paying them much, but we are getting more value than what we're paying them for. This isn't a hard concept.

That doesn't mean they will be just because the Cubs pay more for a player.

It seems as if you want to use absolutes in judging the Cubs moves.

Dejesus and Capuano are OK signings, but they don't bring the Cubs closer to competing alone.

Doesnt bring them closer to WS rings. Maybe if they give young guys like Colvin, Campana, Cashner, etc more playing time they might become everyday players. Have to play guys to find out. Sorry but just cause Cubs getting good deals on bad players doesnt mean its helping the ultimate goal in winning WS.

They are pieces to BUILD AROUND!!! DeJesus and Capauno are players that keep going to those teams to be FILLERS!!! Those are core guys and guess what they got a chance cause those teams didnt sign shitty role players over them. Also those players are on SMALL market teams. They have to get VALUE signings. Cubs are BIG market. Dont need to find Value signings to keep payroll down.
