If it cost a SP then I would agree with you, but I am not certain what the price would be. If the price was a reliever like Nate Jones would that be more palatable?

He is a free agent at the end of the year, and is owed something like 9 million. You probably could get the BoSox to kick in some cash if you sweetened the pot.

i wish dabs was a sox fan.
I tried to enjoy watching the Sox back in the mid to late 90s and I just couldn't get into it. I don't really follow any team besides the Cubs. As I mentioned in the non-Chicago team thread I kind of pull for the Tigers and Jays due to having lived in those state/province at one point in life, but I don't really actively follow either.
I don't think he's a Cub fan. Too smart

Jones four Youkie and half the salary

The issue is there are other teams that are interested. Indians, Phillies, Diamondbacks, and a few others have been mentioned in articles. I could see that being really attractive to the BoSox to get a major league ready piece like that which they desperately need, but other teams might be able to give up more talent and take on more salary especially clubs that could play him at 1B/DH.

I am guessing the BoSox would have to eat more salary to make it work with Chicago, but they might be willing to do that depending on the pieces offered. It is interesting question that we really can't answer since there are too many things we don't know. There are a lot of things driving down Youkilis's value right now including the known desire of the BoSox to trade him, but on the flipside there are a lot of clubs that could use him and are interested.

Have you already forgotten previous years Sox rhetoric?

Have you not followed attendance?

We are getting financially worse

Do you realize that our owner uses the sox for hobby and not for business. Did you not know he is one of the wealthiest men in sports? He has said it a million times that all he cares about is breaking even with the white sox. This is all fact.

We didnt have money and we signed Dunn, we didnt have money and we extended Danks. stop with the guessing and do some research
