how crazy would that be if the hawks got suter and all this harping on joe was for not. that would be funny as ****.

That would mean someone is moved like JJ said. Hammer could be that contract,

If we could move Hammer contract, and get whatever, then sign Suter I'd be all for it

If the Hawks go out and get Suter, I think it'd be required that they turn around and move Hjalmarsson to help with the cap situation.

And I'd be all for it.

I'm just waiting for the opportunity to get my Saad jersey. Dude's going to be a stud in the NHL. Real young kid, so he's got plenty of time left. Wouldn't be surprised if he's given a year of top-line minutes in Rockford next year, but I could also see him cracking the parent club in 2012, too.

That is because everything Joe has implied is that the Blackhawks need to sign him and will basically sign him no matter what...with out giving any solution for this salary cap thing.

I do think Suter is a possibility. It would mean a good amount of things happen though. Hjalmarsson or Montador would have to be traded in some aspect, or Montador on the LTIR (which i have heard is a possibility out there - still likely wouldn't happen - after his 2nd concussion). Oduya would be given his walking papers. A forward in the mid range, such as Bolland or Frolik would have to be traded. Luckily, in my opinion, all of these players mentioned are very trade-able.

With the recent changes in Hawks brass (by apparently giving Q more power) it should be very interesting to see what happens in the offseason. I know I brought up Bolland being traded, but Q seems to have had a love affair with him. Does he ask to trade Stalberg for someone with maybe less high end skill but is more steady? Stalberg has been in Q's doghouse many times before. Should definitely be interesting and it wouldn't surprise me to see some fireworks go off around draft time.

If signing suter is so reliant on the salary cap, i dont see the hawks trading stalberg strictly due to his salary hit...

frolik would either be traded or be buried in rockford

hammer and a prospect (maybe someone like Pirri) could net us a good forward to go along with Suter

suter and a solid forward is a big upgrade for this team IMO

Isn't the CBA up after this season?

Could there be a lockout like the NBA/NFL?

Correct, I should have made it more clear as I didn't. Stalberg, in my eyes, has nothing to do with Suter because Stalberg's cap hit is great for this team. However, I just think that if Q really does have more power, then Stalberg should worry a little bit.

The only problem I see with Hammer/+ for a good forward, is that is going to be another cap hit the Blackhawks will have to worry about. They are going to have to get creative with a few players and what they do.

I really don't think they will have to bury Frolik in the minors. I think there are a few teams out there that would trade for Frolik...whether they have to send a bad (not as bad though) contract back or a low draft pick.

Ahh got ya...yea stalberg will be looking over his shoulder alot next year. We have alot of young talent and he can be pretty inconsistent

let's hope someone takes a flyer on Frolik.

I see him maybe being a draft night trade

Yes but it won't happen they stand to lose a ton of tv money if that would happen. NHL would give itself a death penalty if it did.

yep. nhl isnt like the other leagues...they cant survive 2 lockouts in such a close amount of time

Bettman would have to be an absolute Special person to let a lockout happen

I want to believe that, but the NHL already canceled a season once. I'm not going to be optimistic until a deal is signed, really.

Having Donald Fehr running the NHLPA when he was instrumental in the 1994 MLB strike doesn't calm my nerves, either.

Here's a story that just came out today, too:

NHLPA, league still not talking

I say Trade Frolik, Bolland and Hammer.
Resign: Mayers, Lepisto
Let Go: Brunnette, S O D, Id like to keep ODuya but I dont think we can.
Option 1 Sign Parise and a Big D man.
Option 2 Sign Suter and sign or trade for a big name name Forward. Jordan Staal would work for me.
If we sign Parise
Parise-Toews-Kane
Sharp-Staal/Roy-Hossa
Bickell-Kruger-Shaw
Stalberg-Mayers-Carcillo

Keith-Seabrook
Whoever we sign as a second pairing D-Leddy
Olsen-Lepisto/Montador

If we sign Suter
Stalberg-Toews-Kane
Sharp-Staal/Roy(whoever we trade for)-Hossa
Bickell-Kruger-Shaw
Bollig-Mayers-Carcillo

Keith-Seabrook
Suter-Leddy
Olsen-Lepisto/Montador

Crawford
Emery

This is what I would do. Im hoping Brandon Saad can come and play in the NHL next year but I think it would be better for him to play a year in Rockford. Maybe we can Bolland if we arent comfortable enough without him on the team. Then obviously we cant trade for a guy like Jordan Staal or Derek Roy. But Id like to see us get better at the second line center spot because I feel like Kruger can handle the 3rd line center spot. As you can see if we sign Parise, our D would be pretty bad unless Leddy takes a step forward and Olsen can step up. It also depends on who we can sign to be our number 3 or 4 Defenseman. Let me know what you guys think because this is my first post on the board.
