While your math is correct, I have a very, very hard time believing that that Suter signs for 6 million. Even Parise at 7-7.5 million could be a stretch ... I also don't think the Devils are going to allow him to leave town.

Wow. I diddnt think Suter would sign more then 6-6.5. But Parise I can easily seeing gettin 8 mil plus. Which he deserves. If im Stan Bowman im making any room I can to land him. Parise and Kane played amazing together in the 2010 olympics.

Yeah, I started to love Parise after watching him in 2010 in Vancouver. He and Kane together in Chicago? That'd be incredible.

Suter is going to get a stupidly-high amount of money. Someone with the cap space will throw an absurd contract at him and win his services. Brian Campbell got $7 million/year. Suter is younger and better than Campbell was during his FA time.

Id much rather have Parise then Suter. But thats just me. Can you Imagine a line of Kane Toews and Parise.

That's a hard pick.

I think Parise would be a huge help for the PP. Could spread the talent out between the two units and actually score goals on it again. He'd also be great during 5-on-5.

But you could also shore up your entire D corps by adding Suter. He'd make all 3 pairings better with his addition.

I think I'd lean toward Suter.

If we landed Parise I think we would need to be able to sign a solid D man with the little extra money we had. If we could do that I think I'd lean towards Parise. But If we couldnt sign a Solid D with the money left over I think sign Suter ho should sign for slightly less then Parise which should give us a littl emore wiggle room to sign a better D. Either way you cant go wrong.

On Chicago...
The Hawks are a team to look for in the goalie sweeps, but not for a big money/long term fix...rather a stopgap. Yes, they already have two goalies under contract, but they really don't see either goalie being their answer. The goalie I keep hearing associated with Chicago is Vokoun. And it makes a ton of sense. Vokoun has had offers from the KHL, but not taken them yet. I believe he believes Chicago wants him...but of course nothing can be done, or officially discussed until July 1.

JJ mentioned they were looking for more experience in net

Congrats on one of your more realistic thoughts and one that makes sense for the cap and the team needs.

O'Brien is a pain in the ass to play against and has been getting better on the back end. He is still prone to dumb mistakes and bad penalties, but he has definitely cleaned that up since his days in Van.

I wouldn't mind him on a 1/2 yr deal for the right price.

Anyway ... does anyone else have to stifle the urge to scream HELL NO whenever an ex-Canuck's name is mentioned as a potential Hawk?

But looking beyond that, SOB could be a solid 5/6 D-man on this team and probably wouldn't cost too much. They're going to need another D-man on the roster, anyway, with Lepisto and O'Donnell on their way out.
