I'm fairly confident for game 1. Especially if we get good/decent Lester. Lackey doesn't seem to opposing.

Lackey was very good in September and is a fierce competitor. I would not sleep on him. Unlike Cole on Wednesday the key is to wear him down, stretch out at bats and get his pitch count up. He is 36 years old. Lester is the key tonight. If he has his A game they have a great shot.

I'm confident in a 3/4 night with a 2b, and at least one rbi for Rizzo

In 12 AB Rizzo has a .083 BA against Lackey. That's could indicate one of two things, either he just isn't seeing Lackey's pitches well enough or that the sample size is skewing the numbers and he's likely to regress to the mean. Let's hope it's the latter.

I had a vision of me posting #calledit and I wanted to stick that in Grimson's face. :)

GO CUBBIES!!!!

Mully/Hanley had a Cards beat reporter from St Louis on this morning. He said flat out we're the better team right now and there is serious doubt with in the organization that they will beat us.

You just have that feeling that we're going flatten them.

I'm just not going to allow myself to think that way. I think the Cubs can beat them, I like this team and their calm demeanor but I also realize that this is the best organization in baseball over the last ten years that they're facing starting tonight. I despise them and respect them immensely at the same time. I feel confident that the Cubs can win if they go out and play their brand of ball the way they can. I might feel more confident in winning after tonight.

Don't think for a moment that the Cardinals will run on Lester ALL NIGHT LONG.

They are going to expose his weakness. The Cubs are going to have to hit Lester, and really hit Garcia tomorrow, in which they normally struggle against lefties, but also the Cardinals for some reason struggle to put up runs when Garcia pitches.

Should be interesting. I hope they can take game one and really put the pressure square on Garcia's shoulder's.

Lester is pitching for the Cardinals now as well???? Man, that's going to be one hell of a pitch count.

You have to wonder on the lineup tonight. Lefties definitely have more success on Lackey so does that mean Schwarber in LF and Coghlan in RF? You would think Coghlan is almost sure to start with his line against Lackey of .471/.500/.529. So if they do that do they go even more lefty heavy and start La Stella at 2B with Castro as likely their first rightie of the bench or do they go with Castro who's hit .250 against Lackey? I don't think there's a lot mystery here but without Montero in the lineup how left handed do you go with the other positions?

I wouldn't be so sure on that. They ranked 24th in baseball with 69 steals and a 64.5% success rate. That's not awe inspiring so do they risk the outs considering Ross's arm? My guess is that they try early in attempt to throw Lester off his game and then settle down in a close game.

I'm a little surprised that La Stella is starting at 2B. I would have thought Maddon would have liked the lefty there but Castro has not been awful against Lackey and is the better defender so I do get it.

lets not get cocky/arrogant. its that same arrogance the cardinal fans share that is a big reason I despise them
