Rivet claimed by Columbus on re-entry waivers according to TSN's Ice Chips. Oh well he would have been a nice pickup

Yes. Him and Lindy Ruff had some issues. It wasn't about him not being good enough to play. It was all about Ruff. Sabre fans are not too happy with their coach, but the new owner should bring some swagger back.

There is a rumor a deal has been done for Brett Clark from Tampa.

Depending on what would be going the other way, Clark could be a pretty nice pickup

was Kopecky, although he was at skate this morning so there's probably not much to it. I think they'll make a move today or tomorrow for a 5-6 dman.

Smid, Vandy and Clark are the rumors right now. It's said Tampa wants a roster player back and Clark still has another year on his contract which might be the killer for the deal.

I know Kopecky gets a lot of shit around here, but I think he's far too valuable to trade for a guy like Clark. By Vandy I hope you don't mean Vandermeer.

Thats what makes me not believe the rumor. Stan flat out said he would not be trading any roster players.

LaPointe was scouting the Oilers last week. For one of Smid or Vandameer.

It was said somethere Nashville was interested in Smid, although they can't score goals I don't know why D would be in question.

Well hopefully Lapointe was scouting Smid, cause we already witnessed the Jim Vandermeer debacle once, don't make me live through it again. It's bad enough we didn't learn our lesson with Cullimore

See I don't think Vandy was too bad. Like Aucoin and Cullimore he was asked to play above his skill/role level.

His salary almost makes it an impossible move though. He's making 2.3 mil I think.

Looking at the numbers Smid is only a -10 that's on a team with -60 goal differential. He has 106 hits and 62 blocks. Not bad numbers. He might be ok.

I liked Vandermeer. Hoping for Smid though, but really not expecting much.

I think his history here could help him. Plus he knows a lot of the players.

I wouldn't expect much as there isn't much money for any huge moves.

No better than the used jock strap collection I saw when I was in the Hawks locker room the very first time and the only time I have ever been in there.

As a former Ducks supporter, and since I know of how he is, he was on my shit list secondary to Joffrey Lupul. So hell no! When they got rid of him, well... lets just say I was just as happy when they got rid of Lupul the first time.

Why? He was supposed to be a point guy, but never stood up to par... He's too light to be physical and is decently accurate... not a hard slap shot from what I've seen. I don't even know why he's even in the league to be honest.

I know Rivet is nothing like in his prime, but at the same time, I trust Rivet to do the job moreso over Smid.

Not that I have an opinion on Smid since I really have not seen much of him. But considering he never played a game with the Ducks, how exactly did he wander onto your shit list?

I could have sworn that he did ages ago... OHHH I remember why... I was barking and bitching that year when he was in the farm system in Portland... He never played as a Duck as you said, but he was in the system for a year. He wasn't impressing me at the time, and I was honestly hoping for a young PP-style d-man with that kid, especially being a 9th selection in the draft.... I knew of his work down in Portland. Sure it was ok but I wasn't too fond of 28 pts in 70+ games in the AHL.... I think thats why he was bait in the Pronger deal due to the fact he wasn't impressive to the higher ups, either. Maybe that is also why I'm just an armchair gm and not an actual gm out there... lol... Maybe I expect too much out of a high draft choice right away? Who's to say...

Sad to say, but statwise, that year in Portland has been his best in terms of points. Being on the Oilers doesn't help him much, so I guess it can't be considered. But still, if you're 9th in the draft, the pressure is on you to do something to prove yourself out there... I'm guessing... maybe he never got that chance?

Per McKenzie twitter Blackhawks looking at Matt Hunwick and Mark Stuart.

Edit: Scratch Stuart, just signed 3 year extension with Atl.

Marty Reasoner? Solid 3rd line center and can do PK. 54% on face offs. $1.2M and pending RFA. Send Taffe back to Dale.

Just wondering...is Beach more of an impending failed 1st rounder, or simply waiting for more seasoning and right spot on big team to open up?

IMO Beach is a victim of the Cap.

Not the way he's been playing in Rockford he's not. No way with that performance would he be here on the big club.

Not sure I'd give up on him in a trade for a rental player though.

Sorry to tell you that Beach's lack of callup has zero to do with the Cap.

Like RK, too early to throw in the towel on him but I see another whole season

in the A for him. I would venture that if the right trade came around that the

Hawks would most certainly consider offers for him.
