Victor Stalberg
has two goals and five points in his last three contests. "Overall we're seeing a better hockey player over time here," coach Joel Quenneville said. "(Stalberg is) improving his puck protection. We love his speed, (and) he's got a nice shot. He seems to be more influential in the puck area and winning more of his puck battles - more than his share - which is good to see because he can do a lot of good things with it. We're seeing some good improvement in his game." That's some pretty high praise, and Stalberg is well on his way to having a breakout season. He already has 20 points in 32 games, just four points shy of his 2010-11 sophomore total.

:yeah:

I feel like he hasn't been a factor either. But who is there to replace him?

I think Bickell is playing a lot better now that Stalberg is on that line.

Me either. But you have to admit that Stalberg is making him a lot better.

Now that Bolland, Frolik, and Bickell will be back together, I expect both Frolik and Bickell to be bad.

Michael Frolik
is still struggling with his game. Frolik has only five goals and 10 points this season and has only two goals in his last 22 games. "I'm not happy with my play," Frolik said. "I'm sure I can be better. It's not easy when you're not scoring. I try to work hard in practice and try to play easier, don't think too much and just play the game." Coach Joel Quenneville noticed some jump in his game during practice earlier this week so perhaps the third liner is ready to contribute more offensively. He started his career with a couple of 21 goal seasons but the 23-year-old dropped to 11 last season and is on pace to equal that amount this year if he doesn't pick up his game.

Andrew Shaw
is expected to make his NHL debut on Thursday. Shaw's promotion came shortly after he signed an entry-level contract. "When I signed (the contract) the other morning (and) a couple of hours later I got a call it was the most exciting day of my life," said Shaw. "A few years ago I never thought I'd be playing my first game in the NHL but it shows hard work pays off." Shaw's previous skepticism is understandable, given that he was selected in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL entry draft just a month before his 20th birthday. Shaw has made a smooth transition from the OHL to AHL this season with 21 points and 80 penalty minutes in 33 games with the Rockford IceHogs. He might turn into a Sean Avery-type of fantasy player, but that probably won't happen for a couple more years. (Source: Chicago Tribune)

Hayes in his third career NHL game, already has half the goals Bickell has all season.

Stupid, stupid timing with Shaw's bout. That's dumb youth. Pretty goal later on, though.

Hayes has been using his body extremely well.
