I thought this was pretty funny but the top 3 for Iowa are Byrd, Barney, Colvin.. and the 5th natter is Castillo. Not to mention because it doesn't matter in my point but LaHair is batting clean-up.

I count maybe three actual prospects at Triple A. What is your figuring?

That's what I mean lol. There's no player that is really too young and who can play at the majors at a hight level. And who I really consider a prospect.

Let me see if I can see who'c considered a proespect by your means and mine: (there's actually more than I thought)

C Welington Castillo (I know he can hit and play D)
P Jay Jackson (Been up and down and don't know what to think)
SS Marwin Gonzalez (I think he's a sleeper)
P Marco Carillo (I'm in the middle, middle RP at best and I think he can have success)
SS Johnathon Mota (He's been hitting the ball but I have not heard his name, so I have a feeling he'll just be another Cubs' Triple A player)

Maybe...
P Blake Parker (He's been inconsistent but the Cubs had hope with him.)
OF Ty Wright (He's been hitting the ball but getting older and I see him more as a Camp player, with no speed.)

So, it looks like the Cubs Triple A team did get younger and that's how it should be.

Peoria lefty Austin Kirk threw a complete game no-hitter today. 10 K's and 2 walks. Way to go Kirk! I know it's low A but that's still a great accomplishment.

Bruce Miles is saying that Nicholas Struck is going to be promoted to the I-Cubs rotation and is going to start today. In a year full of pitchers going down to injury (McNutt, Whitenack) and suckiness (Jay Jackson), Nicholas Struck has been a real bright spot in the high minors. The kid is 21 and started in High A ball and made 10 starts. He has made 6 starts in AA with a 2.31 ERA and 26 Ks to 6 BBs (combined era on the year is 2.96 and has a K/BB of 73/22). Given the way Cubs SP have performed it isn't out of the realm of possibility that we might see him up eventually.

Random Muskat tidbit:

In seven games, Marwin Gonzalez is batting .524 (11-for-21) with four doubles, five RBIs for Iowa. He was promoted after batting .301 in 64 games with Tennessee.

“Everything I do in baseball I owe to my dad,” Gonzalez said. “He taught me to play baseball when I was 5 years old. He worked with me every day.”

Marwin’s father, Mario, is a scout in the Rays organization. His brother, also Mario, is a scout in the Cubs system.

“I talk to them every day,” Marwin said. “Sometimes more than once a day.”

Small sample size, blah blah blah...this Marwin Gonzalez guy is always in the reports so I figure one might as well pay attention to him here and there.

That's the guy with a really long last name isn't it?
