I wouldn't be surprised if it was Carolina who offered Doan that.

Teams are nuts if they give Doan anymore than a 2 yr deal.

If he was a little younger, I could see a 3 or 4 yr deal but not at his age of 35.

Holy shit. 7 and a half million dollars for a light scoring two-way fossil? That is fucking insane. He'd provide a little grit, some D, and 35-40 points a year but that's worth 2 years at 3 and a half per, not four years at more than twice that much.

I'm out on that...

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Toledo Rockets
Rumors say it was the Flyers and others say it was the Jets. At least that was the news last time I heard.

I guess the Richards and Carter deals didn't teach them anything.

I think the inflated contract is because other than Parise and Suter, there weren't very many good UFAs this year.

Next year will be better and the Hawks will have a better chance to improve that way. I'm willing to be patient. The Hawks won the cup 3 years ago. They have great young talent. I'm not gonna be too pushy even if it's a little frustrating to see the team not do very well.

So the talk is that the owners proposal for the new CBA is that the cap is going to down fairly significant. I think I saw one tweet that suggested that if the owner's proposal went through that the Hawks' cap would be 4 million and that four or five teams would have to cut salary. Perhaps the Hawks are waiting to see what will happen with the cap and maybe be able to use their remaining cap to snap up some bargains. One can  right?

Just curious, did anyone really think Blowman would do anything?

Dude is high if he thinks this team is anywhere close to a Cup contender.

Pretty sure that there's a quote of him saying something about how hard it is to improve a team via free agency. He made offers to Parise, Suter, has interest in Doan. The problem is that the Hawks can't really afford those kind of contracts if they want to improve in more than one area.

Not defending him, but the free agency pool wasn't great this year. And he's being smarter about it than last year. Be glad he's not giving crappy contracts to some players that won't do anything.

Which would you rather have: Cap space or Lepisto, Montador, O'Donnell, Brunette?

Aren't we hoping to have Montador this season?

What cheeses my ass are his bullshit comments and fluff pieces like the one posted on the Blackhawks app this afternoon. "Free agent signings may make a media splash but they don't make your team better" and "your strongest growth comes from within" (paraphrased) are bullshit placating comments from a dickhead who didn't get anything done in free agency.

I'm fine with eating a ham sandwich but don't give me a ham sandwich and try to tell me it's a fucking steak. Just tell me you're giving me a fucking ham sandwich and let me decide whether or not I like it. What an asshole.

It matters from who though... as source quality matters... 'seeing one that says one thing' is pretty much meaningless unless it comes from a reputable source.

Yes, I do get the point that there isn't anything going on ... so I mean fair enough, but this is getting into 'taking it with a grain of salt' territory at this point (if it wasn't there already -and I'm not sure it wasn't anyways..).

CBA stuff probably deserves its own thread. Going to be an extended offseason.
