Something I was just thinking about:

You're all upset about the Hawks not spending their money this summer. Yes, Parise and Suter were the best two guys out there and they're damn good. That's very true. But the Hawks tried and failed, can't really blame them there. Otherwise, who was a truly good signing that would be signed for reasonable money?

Wouldn't you rather wait for next year's free agency when the Hawks have the same cap room and there's more guys out there so the prices for each guy is more reasonable? I know I would. The Hawks won three years ago, and I'm in no rush to win one again next year or something. Yes, it's frustrating to see some good players pass by, but in the end the Hawks might come out as winners. Now if something doesn't happen next summer, I can understand frustration.

Bowman was either going to do what he did last summer and overpay for some guys that will do nothing or do the smart thing and wait for the trade deadline or next summer when there are better UFAs.

The only problem is if there will be a lockout this season and how the new CBA will affect the NHL.

Not much to discuss after Blowman taking another summer off.

Maybe they'll make a splash for the Convention by naming Ronnie Woo Woo as the new mascot.

Read my last post. You might understand. "brah"

The next time Blowman makes an actual a "splash" will be a first.

I'm more excited about the IceHogs than the Hawks.

I'd be a lot more worried about the Hawks if there were moves made by other teams in the division that put them far ahead of the Blackhawks.

Detroit, Nashville, and St. Louis haven't done much of anything this offseason, either. The first two teams I listed have only lost players from their roster.

Would've liked more activity, sure. But the Hawks haven't lost anywhere near as much as some of their other division rivals have. Or lost anything, really.

On a side note... I am surprised the Rick Nash front has been relatively slow... the Jakcets must be asking for the franchise for him considering the derby for him has turned into a crawl

Are they really?

Detroit had 1 more point than the Blackhawks and the Predators had 3 more points.

I don't know who is better, but I can tell you that the Wings and Predators have lost a lot more than they have added this offseason. The Blackhawks might have added by subtraction so far, even though really pretty damn minor.

The Central has (at this point in time) definitely taken a big step back overall and a lot of that has to do with Detroit/Nashville looking worse right now.

I can agree with this.

The Blackhawks still have a huge question mark yet with Hossa's injury.

I don't know where that ranks in losing Lidstrom and Suter however.

Detroit has lost Lidstrom, Hudler, B. Stuart and most likely Holmstorm (rumored that he is going to retire) while adding Tootoo and Samuelsson. As of right now, Detroit is in trouble...big time trouble because their defense has taken a pretty big hit.

Nashville has lost Suter and Tootoo while adding no one to note.

Columbus is Columbus and Nash still hasn't been traded.

St. Louis has pretty much stayed the same.

Still a lot of times for all these teams to improve and still some impact players out there.

Yes, it absolutely does matter, because those are the Hawks' most common opponents. And you're so sure that they're better? Nashville was 3 points ahead of Chicago at the end of last season, Detroit just one. Preds have already lost one of their top 2 D-men and still haven't signed the other. Detroit lost their top D-men, and a forward who had 50 points. I haven't seen the Hawks get better but I've seen the other teams get worse.

with the losses I will bet all day long that detroit and nashville finish better than us. ALL DAY LONG. Just like I did last year and I will be right again this year. Of course there are fans like yourself that want self reassurance that all is ok and look to find some sort of positive to latch onto. I love when a season is over and a fanbase has new optimism but of course the inevitable kick in the nuts will happen.

Save this post ok. det, stl, nash finish ahead of us. Il sig bet you a year.

Lot of big ifs with the guys on our current squad

Toews- Will he be more susceptible to another concussion?

Hossa- Will he be 100% from the start of the season?

Stalberg- Can he repeat his numbers from last year?

Who is our 2nd line center?

Who is going to help in the top 4 pairing? (***Note the defense is a bit better than those other teams but, ummm, well they have a goalie)

Crawford- will he have a better year?

The PP is horrible- Is that going to get fixed on its own? who will be on the 2 lines? No addition to a horrible PP

Andrew Shaw- Is he what we saw him as or was he a flash in the pan, still has to prove himself.

Shall I go on?
