I get it. You pussy is all bruised with the Cutler signing. Sucks when you are on the wrong side of these things, but whining about a past decision that you had no control over comes across as just sad...
At least Spartan is letting us celebrate in peace. It is actually quite classy on his part.

Very depressing day for this old Bears fan. Emery and Trestman are now tied to Cutler and I expect all three will be leaving after another 4 mediocre years. Status quo seems to be the theme at Halas Hall. Go Seahawks!

Right about what? Everyone knew he was coming back, whether we wanted it or not. Where we differ is that some of us have major concerns about his inconsistency and durability, and actually think about the future, whereas others are whooping and hollering in "bliss" simply because they have an irrational teenage girl type of love for the guy, and don't care about whether the Bears win or not, as long as Cutler is playing. To your shame, you fall in the latter category.

wow...The backtracking is amazing.. Pretty soon he will be claiming to be a fanboy

I think he is bi polar

Scoot, I agree that a "Bad" QB probably cannot win a SB. Looking at that list, I would put Cutler at (or above) guys like Flacco, Eli and Ben. That is 5 of the last 8 SB winners.

While winnng the big game is the ultimate goal of every NFL team, making the playoffs and winning should be pretty high on the list also. face it 31 teams every year end up not winning the SB (and 31 QB's). Hell, even the great Peyton manning, Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees have only won one SB.

I do not think it is fair to any QB to rate his success or failure on winning a SB. it is very rare. All I want from Cutler is to play well enough to give us a chance in the playoffs. The rest of the TEAM has to pick it up also.

No way Cutler is at or above the level of Big Ben.

Didnt say he was, just saying how difficult it is to win with one, which BearsBud said happens.

All the QBs on that list though minus Dilfer, have had better overall seasons than Cutler has ever had though.

Well yeah having an elite QB is a huge advantage. Most teams and fans would want a Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Aaron Rodgers. Fact is you will probably be waiting for a loooooong time to get one if ever. Anyway, it's not worth get all worked up about to me. I think we can win with him if we have a well balanced team. If you and others don't have hope and are angry about it that's just something you all will have to deal with on your own. It is what it is and I'm not going to bitch about Jay daily in nearly every thread, not saying that you do.

If the Bears can get to a Super Bowl with Rexxy, then getting to a Super Bowl with Jay is also possible. If bad qb's like Dilfer can win a Super Bowl, and all time great QB's like Payton Manning can have only 1 Super Bowl win, then Jay can win a Super Bowl.

Nope. As stated before, we believe we found Spartan after the news broke.

I love it. Great move Emery. Now we'll be able to spend much more money on defense since the amount per year was likely reduced. GO BEARS!

While I'm a pessimist, I'm not pessimistic about this. The only reason why I was over Cutler because he can't stay healthy. We all know the Bears squandered their great defense with incompetence on the offensive coaching staff and team development by Jerry Angelo.

Now we have a shit defense that needs a lot of work. We aren't ever going to win anything without a pass rush. And I hope for a healthy Cutler now that he is indeed signed for a long time.

All I can say is, I thought we would have a month of reprieve on this board, like a little vacation, but no... Emery doesn't sleep. The man is a work-a-holic. Props for him, getting these deals done so quickly. Sheesh, what another 4 more signings tomorrow? Maybe 3-4 F/A acquisitions by Monday? Anyone know if they've replaced the janitorial staff recently at Halas Hall?

Don't disagree. Flacco's regular season last year wasn't bad either 3817 yards, 22 TDs 10 INTs. Something Cutler probably COULD do, though with a high INT count I'm sure, if he could stay healthy. We saw 23-15 from him in 2010.

And until this season, Eli's numbers were always a lot better than Cutler's.

But a lot of this speaks to Cutler's health, we havent seen a full season from him since he first came here in 2009.

Im not sure what you see in Eli's numbers but I do agree with health when it comes to Cutler

Its rare that that happens. The last team to win a Super Bowl with a bad QB was the 2000 Ravens. The rules have been changed a shit ton to favor QBs and the offense since then.

I mean:
2012 - Flacco
2011 - Eli Manning
2010 - Rodgers
2009 - Brees
2008 - Roethliesberger
2007 - Eli Manning
2006 - Peyton Manning
2005 - Roethlisberger
2004 - Brady
2003 - Brady
2002 - Brad Johnson
2001 - Brady
2000 - Dilfer
1999 - Warner
1998 - Elway
1997 - Elway
1996 - Favre
1995 - Aiken
1994 - Young
1993 - Aiken
1992 - Aiken

Dilfer and Brad Johnson are the two worst QBs there.

I believe this list just proves the earlier point about QBs and superbowls. Where is Dan Marino's name? Oh that's right, he never won. How good was he?

Hey, Shea McClellin, Mel Tucker, Trestman and now Jay Cutler (the pouting face of the Chicago Bears) for the next several years. Go Hawks!

I think Jay Cutler can win a Superbowl under two conditions.

1. If the entire team around him is very solid. If we have a great defense, they can cancel out any mistakes we know Jay will eventually make. He's got a good offense in place for him, but the defense is horrendous and the ST was pretty terrible this past season as well. Given the contract he just signed [assuming the yearly amount is pretty high], the Bears won't be able to give him a GREAT defense and special teams unless they strike gold in the draft.

2. He has this offense in place and the defense and ST is good enough for elite QB's like Manning, Brady, Rodgers, etc. to win a Superbowl. But, Cutler would have to string together 3-4 AMAZING games to pull in off. Like Joe Flacco last season. Flacco in the post-season threw for 11 TD's, 0 INT's and had a QB rating of 117.2. Could Cutler do the same? Idk about that, tbh.
