They should be in panic. You'd have to figure that the Dodgers sending Kershaw, Hill & Maeda in the NLDS against Scherzer, Roark & Gonzales will be the odds on favorite in that series. With the way Roark has been pitching Strasburg would have made that a fairly even match.

A hilarious back & forth between Dave Cameron and some guy who sounds suspiciously like brett during Dave's chat yesterday:

Amarillo Windmill: How can you say the Cubs are “far and away the best team of 2016” when they play in the incredibly weak National League and have two of the worst teams in baseball within their division? Put them in the AL East, and they are still fighting to win their division.

Dave Cameron: That’s silly. The Cubs are 20-7 against the Reds/Brewers, 69-42 against everyone else. So they’ve won 62% of their games against the other 27 teams; no one else has won 62% of their games against the entire league, even without eliminating the games against their weakest opponents. A failure to recognize that the Cubs are clearly baseball’s best team this year is a failure to see what’s staring you in the face.

Amarillo Windmill: That’s not fair to just use the Cubs’ W/L record against non-Reds/Brewers teams. They still got to play those teams. They still got to save their bullpen in those games. Their SPs still got to cruise in those games. Etc. Etc. Playing in the NL has obviously inflated their record compared to playing in the AL East.

Dave Cameron: You’re making stuff up.

Dave Cameron: The Cubs >>>> everyone else this year, and it’s not even close to being close.

The guy picked the wrong thing to mention about the Cubs.

No second TJ for Strasburg. No timetable for return but this year not ruled out.

Will be interesting to see how aggressive they get with their $175mil investment. Even if it were possible for him to rehab and be back for the playoffs, is it worth it long-term to risk throwing on what might still be a compromised elbow?

It's an interesting choice isn't it? The Nats current window would appear to have 2 more years in it before Bryce Harper likely leaves for FA, but the last time Washington was this close to the promised land they shut down Strasburg more preemptively than some would have thought. Still a flexor mass strain isn't nothing and maybe he just doesn't feel right by playoff time and the decision is out of their hands. Either way with an iffy Strasburg or no Strasburg at all the Nationals have probably just become the underdog in the presumed NLDS against LA.

Washington deserves to rot in misery for shutting Strasburg down a couple years ago. How arrogant was that.

Never faced a MLB pitcher and all ready cashing in like a super star. T-Blow is a real piece of work.

Can't wait for the first 98 MPH missle to target the dome and he runs away.

Not likely to happen at all.

What Tim does do is provide not only gate receipts but also provides a tremendous coaching mentor to the young players on how to be a true professional.

He's been a met for almost two days now and he's already the most known current Professional Player.

Tough blow for the Nats. I want to win a World Series with every fiber in my body - but you never want to see a star play on an opposing team go down. I just can't see them having the Horses to win the pennant with out him. Even advancing past the NLDS is going to be tough for them now. I'm not particularly scared of the Dodgers, either.

I still don't want to see SF though. They've played bad for a significant stretch but God forbid they get hot at the right time. With Madison, Buster Posey, etc -- I'm still scared of them.

Tim Tebow is certainly showing those young Minor Leaguers how to be a "true professional" when he doesn't show up to to instructional league ball every day so that he can still do ESPN broadcasts. This foray into baseball at age 29 has everything to do with marketing, merchandising, and publicity, and nothing to do with anything else.

A true professional honors his commitments and communicates with his employers. The true amount of marketing/merchandising is minimal in the scheme of things that he organization makes already. I agree, a very small chance of being someone, but invaluable as a "coach." You ignore that which is your right.
