Thinking one of the QBs will drop. Might be maye. Think the draft will go Caleb Jayden JJ mhj nabers Rome alt and turner. Then giants jump back into first for penix. Pair Rome with penix again.

One question that springs to mind for me is: are there any situational pass rushers to consider in the 3rd?

So, if they go WR at 9, is it reasonable to think they could get a guy in the 3rd that may not be an every down DE but could be an effective pass rusher?

Likely 3rd round guys at DE are:

Austin Booker - Undersized but athletic situational pass rusher.

Marshawn Kneeland - 3 down end without top end athleticism who needs a lot of refinement

Brandon Dorlus - DE/DT tweener who is probably more of a big end than a light tackle at the NFL

Jonah Elliss - undersized technician pass rush specialist with soso athleticism

I like Kneeland the best, I think he is most likely to be the best of the bunch but Booker might have the highest ceiling as a pass rusher.

Edit: I dont think any are particularly promising my opinion is this is a relatively thin DE class especially past the top 3.

Short answer is no.

Every once in a while a team gets lucky. But you can't count on it.

I did not mean that you could count on it. I was more just trying to understand the depth of the draft for that position.

I really like Luke McCaffrey in the late rounds. Ran a tenth fast than his bother CMC and he gets TDs and looks like he knows how to attack the defense. With professional coaching, I think he can turn into a 2nd WR at least. Plus that toughness that comes from the McCaffrey family…

Wow is that really true? he refused interviews at combines and now not even working out at his pro day. Red Flags for potential problems in the future for sure. Caleb did all interviews at the combine and as far has holding off his medicals the bears already has access to his medicals already.
Sorry, but I would not trust the medicals coming from USC.

The Bears have to have their own doctors perform a complete evaluation of him.

I really doubt it. Declining things and not performing in a pro day or doing interviews is all optional. Doesn’t mean red flags or potential problems. There is enough tape out there for him. People already have him as the #1 WR and #2 at worse. What more does he have to do? Nothing.

Agree. I hear more and more Maye could fall. Chris Simms has him as his QB6 FFS. LOL. Wow.

From PFT:

The betting odds have 4 QBs and MHJ as the first 5 picks.

If that plays out, the math becomes easy even for the “he’s not going to be at 9” crowd.

The Bears would be looking at one of Alt, Nabers, Odunze or Turner.

At 6 through 8, the best thing that can happen for the Bears is a reach for QB 5 or CB 1 getting selected.

2 OTs before 9 would be sweet - I like Alt a lot but the other 1st round OTs don’t have the same ceiling to me. I still think it’s gone be Odunze available at 9.
