Yea, I read that they charted Pistol Petes shots and if the 3 point line would have been around. He would have averaged over 57 points a game. lol Insanity.
I'll believe it. He's probably the greatest jump shooter of all time. Not remembered for his NBA career too much (mostly played on bad teams, and then injuries took his game away before he retired and found Jesus). Steph Curry today is the closest that comes to him as far as a jump shooter.

There's one game in particular that's of interest..

He scored 68 points in 1977, 26/43 from the field.. Wonder how many of those shots would be considered 3 pointers today.

I don't see 100 points because NBA teams use defensive adjustment. Klay buries you one quarter, you likely make a change to limit his ability and force him to pass the rest of the game. That's usually why the record hasn't been broken in the NBA.

Also 100 points has never happened in Division I vs Division I in the NCAA. The highest point total is 72 points. I'd argue thats because college has never played the high scoring game.

It has happened multiple times at the international level. Granted, that is not quite at the NCAA Division I level. However, it goes to show you that crazy stuff happens.

I'd argue that Kobe only got to 81 because the Raptors never made the proper defensive adjustments. That game was a shoot out. They decided to guard Kobe one-on-one and he made them pay. I still remember seeing the boxscore of that game and shouting WOW in the middle of my high school library. It goes to show you that even at the NBA level, some defenses can be so bad on certain nights that 100 points isn't out of the realms of possibility. Even in only 4 quarters.

Cal Ripkens iron man record is the only record I don't think anyone will come close to breaking again.

most untouchable stat is baseballs wins record...cy young with 511 wins. pitchers today don't even make 511 starts for a career much less win that many

Honestly, Cal Ripken's record can be broken because so much of it depends on science. The record I can't see being broken, Oscar Robertson averaging a triple double for a season. Honestly, I can't recall anyone doing that for a month during the season. Magic Johnson did it for a postseason. I just don't see it happening.

Actually, I was talking about the season right after their 72-10 one. They went 69-13.
Those damn Knicks and a wild loss to them cost us back to back 70 win seasons. Ugh that game still irritates me to this day. We should have won but those Knicks teams were always scrappy.

Wilt Chamberlain's 100 points, 55 rebounds and a few other Chamberlain records, no one is ever going to touch.

All time Wins for a pitcher of 511 is unbreakable. You win 25 games a year for 20 years and you are still 11 wins short of the tie. the last pitcher to win that many in one season was Bob Welch in 1990 (25 years ago). That's untouchable.

Didn't RW do it last year for a month?

You're right on that. Wins is unbreakable. Pitchers don't pitch anywhere near as much as they use to.

Kinda surprised at the start the Pelicans are having. I think a lot felt they would make some strides this year.

Shouldn't have fired their coach apparently.

Couple of reasons, they were blasted with injuries from the start. Evans, Asik, Pondexter, Norris Cole, Kendrick Perkins, Aljenca, and even Davis has missed games. Jrue Holiday was/is on a 15 minute restriction per game. Combine that with learning a new offense and defense and this team hasn't had a chance to even get their feet on the ground. I kind of want them to flop now. It will get us a high draft pick which we desperately need. We also have only 48 million in cap next year with Davis, Asik, Evans, and some other signed for next year. They get a high pick and have that kind of money to spend. It may be a blessing in disguise.

I don't want him either. Especially after reading that study about him on reddit.

Edit: The Study

Well, I linked it, so when you have time, its a good read.

Basically just shows Cousins is the typical NBA world talent that doesn't have much of an IQ nor does he have a winning mentality.

Does it make me a :homer: to think that the '96 Bulls would beat the '15 Warriors in any era?
