I went to 40 games last year and could easily afford to sit upstairs just not where I want to be. My decision. But sure the price increase downstairs has effected me.

As for running off players none have chosen to leave. They were traded. None of them wanted to go, and were pissed they were traded. I am not defending the front office because the management moves they've made are completely fucked, principly Tallon, but that said this situation I'm glad neither of these players signed here for those prices.

the ticket price is economics Bob. While It pisses me off Chicago is not the only major market it happens in. I like you am not a happy camper and believe Mcdonough is a cancer. That said I'm torn with slamming them here where I didn't really want them giving 13yr contracts away for players who may or may not be worth that.

I wasn't clear in my statement. I was referring more to management types being run off

The Hawks are sliding - do you trust Scooter and McD to show them the way out?

Like you, I'm glad they didn't come to Chi. Pretty soon, it would be like a NBA roster. A few players making serious coin and others making minimum pay

Toews is concussion prone. Our goaltending has been inconsistent. Our in zone play sucks. That doesn't say Stanley Cup to me either.

What's your point?

He is?

Our in zone play was questionable with players having an off year. Remind me which of their players have proven they have what it takes. I'll wait.

I'd pick the Hawks over Wild any day of the week in overall talent on BOTH ENDS of the ice.

The only place Minny is better (and it's by a wide margin) is goaltending.

I'd bet money it doesn't happen. Especially with the Canucks and Oilers in their division.

top 5?

Yea right.

The Sedins are getting older. The Canucks do not have very good prospects in their system. I wouldn't give them as much credit as you are. In a couple years they could be middle of the pack.

Oilers have a ton of young talent coming up, but they too are lacking a lot on the back end. More so than the Wild.

Well we all know how I feel about Mcdonough. Stan, I'm torn as he will have his legacy in the drafts which will improve the team. Losing half his roster due to the Cap didn't help the year before last and last year I believe he was hindered by Rocky not spending the money he was paying Huet and Olesz. I think there are a lot of other factors.

Do I trust him to be a GM? Now is his time to prove it. Prove to me you can make a deal. There are a few players that can improve this team right now. Iginla, Morrow, Ryan.... Can you manage a deal. Will other GM's deal with you without fleacing you? It's his year to prove himself, just as Q after winning his power struggle.

As for Minny finishing in the top five in two years, Anything could happen but I'd bet money against it.

Considering he has 2 concussions now I would say he's more prone than others.

How many more seasons are we going to use the "off year" excuse?

I would take the Hawks over the Wild as well. That's not the point of my post. Point was the Hawks and their play doesn't scream Stanley Cup to me either.

My point wasn't to compare the teams head-to-head, but more so to use RK's theory against him with using the Hawks instead of the Wild as his example.

At trev points out our deficiencies last year how much of players not playing up to Potential was that? Keith, Bolland, Frolik, Hjarlmarsson, Kane (slack because he played every position but goal)

Players with proven talent like they have need to step up every night. IF they do that the Hawks can compete for the Cup. Just as they are right now. I'll stick to that. Some onus falls on coaching as well.

I think they have a very good chance. Again, I agree anything can happen. They have put themselves in the right path to be a top 5 team though with their FA signings, current depth, and future players.

Seabrook has 3 is he prone too? IMO last season was the last you use losing half your roster as an excuse. Its fucking HALF THE FUCKING ROSTER!! The Hawks talent screams Stanley Cup to me. If it doesn't to you I don't know what player you think other teams have that compare to overall talent. Certainly NOT the wild!

Well see they are spending 20% of their cap on two players.

No doubt, coaching is a lot to do with our in zone play and positioning. Didn't look like there was any system/tactics in place on both ends of the ice (Special Teams included).

We know what the players are capable of, and yes, if they all played to their potential we could have another Stanley Cup season, possibly more. Getting them to that potential is a must.

Which is the difference. Even with Parise and Suter the Wild don't have that talent. They improved and are building. We'll see how it works out but the Oilers and Canucks will have somethign to say about it.

Looking at their forwards corps, they have some scary line potential.

Parise-Koivu-Setoguchi

Heatley-Bouchard-Granlund

Powe-Cullen-Clutterbuck

Brodziak-Konopka-Mitchell

I was looking at Minny's cap situation now and looked at their "D", 6 players under contract and 2.8M cap left:

Suter-Gilbert

Stoner-Spurgeon

Scandella-Prosser

Combined 18 goals last season and cumulative -33

This does not look like stellar planning by the wild to me unless they unload Heatley on some fool.

They have some forward depth that definitely can be moved now. Wouldn't be surprised if they move a couple guys to fix up their defense.

Only July 4th. Plenty of time to trade.

Players I'd like to see targeted...

Goaltending - Luongo (I know, I know...people hate him. He'd be an upgrade)....Bernier. - However, I don't see either of them trading inter-conference. I think the Hawks are stuck with hoping Crawford comes back.

Defense - Bouwmeester...Yandle. I think either would be big upgrades to the top 4

Forwards - Morrow, Ryan, Nash, Gagner....I'd take any as long as Kane isn't going the other way. I'd be ok if they got Semin (not popular...but change of scene and maybe WASH was the issue, not him? He can play/put up points and is a pure goal scorer. As good or better sniper than Sharp. Right handed shot...and likes Kane/said Crosby is over rated. Gotta count for something). Doan...if not more than 4.5 Statsny...would be a great 2nd line center fit
