OH, MAN! This soap opera on ice HAS managed to pay dividends for me. I can't speak for others in Hawks nation but scanning the butthurt responses around the interwebs from DET fans has been SPECTACULAR!! Their tears. . .so salty. . .so deeeeelicious. . .even on a 103-degree scorcher of a day!

Yea that's why I just can't slam the Organization here. Both these guys turned down "HOCKEY CLOWN" when they were needed most IE Lidstrom retiring.

One small minor problem... Keith has a NMC!

Back to Iginla and just leaving the D where it is..... LOL

No, thank you for offering though. I would however gladly accept a side of Bobby Ryan on the RW tip.

canucks go as far as the sedins take them and they are about two years away from their spiral...it will show this year also.after that they have no one in the prospect department and will have to build via free agency.

flames won't be good for a very long time as feaster keeps making mistake after mistake there. Iginla should have been moved while his stock was highest.

oilers will be the best team in that division once they find Goalkeeping and a better blueline. those kids up front are hot shit now..lets wait to see how the Russian fits in.

Colorado actually made two good signings so far..have some young talent but not enough.

wild just signed two guys that should help them for at least five to six years depending on health. they need a little more but they are better off right now for the future than any if the teams in the division not including the oilers depending on how they grow and holes are filled. big fat contracts coming to three to four of those oilers in the future. ain't going to be able to keep em all and build around them

And all those picks they traded away over the years. . .it's all coming home to roost.

They need a Center more than anything and i'd take Iginla over Ryan any day. Remind me how many times Ryans had 50 goals.

Everyone but Hockey Town knew eventually they'd get old. Lidstrom was the Redwings. No question. Best D man in the NHL and probably the best Captain.

Remind me when was the last time Iginla had a 50 goal season? Iginla's not a centre so what does the fact that the Hawks need their long-coveted, mythological 2C have to do with him when we're just talking about players in general we'd like to see on the team?

Eh, Iginla's gotten lazy over the years, doesn't play a sound two-way game, doesn't puck handle or pass well, and considers himself an offensive "sniper" now so no thank you coupled with age and the $7 mil contract. Also, I still maintain he doesn't make others he lines up with better considering he's their elite star forward. Also, I think he's stubborn, will ignore coaches and do what he wants and has been a part of their attitude problems in that sense.

I would take iginla for about 2 years thats it.... thats all he has left and I wouldnt expect anything more than 60 points per season from him at this point. Variables is right Iginla has never been a face off guy so that hurts as a center....but then again hes not a center

Ryan I would take over Iginla for the longer term for sure

Ryans probably not coming here though he wants to play in philli and they want him so the Ryan hopes can be washed out anyways unless the Hawks have a package that makes him happy and the Ducks. He is getting delt though a player doesnt ask to be traded then changes his hart. If the Ducks dont deal him this off season he will surely be gone by December of the season.

I would take Ryan for longer term but feel iginla has the drive to win now. Books I'd be fine with either really... But Iginla has the drive Ryan doesn't yet.

Part of what you mention about him is where he plays.

I'd also try Morrow as well.

I would take evander kane over both of them. would be great if the jets were forced to trade his rights...not that this would happen but one can dream a dream of nonsense.

something about Ryan I dont like...unreasoning false unlike i am sure. When a guy says publicaly he thinks the team he plays for doesnt respect him then somethings iffy. Its probably the org as the Ducks are weird..no offense wolf...but i still think airing dirty laundry in public says something about the player also.

ryan would fit in well in philli with the rest of the cry babies who are never happy. maybe pronger should become gm

just noticed..

there are a shit load of good UFA's available next year. Hawks could always stay the course let the young guys play add some cheap decent depth this year somehow and then go at it next year. Still lots of time with this core and this 2 player bidding war wont happen next year with the number of good free agents available.

this isn't all a bad road to go down in my opinion. Hey the teams going to be better this year already anyways without old man brunette clogging ice time and brookbank isn't a ground breaking signing but it helps a little. Not as if the Hawks are on a bad road..unless stan and the gang really do something stupid.

actually its not a great free agent market next year i lied. too many old farts but if it were 2004 iot would be unreal

Agreed...Our young players like Hayes, Kruger, Shaw, Olsen, and others are in the improving years, so should improve.

Also Kaner got in trouble again so may retreat to the gym again like he did the "cabbies for cups" year and this year was not the time to over-pay...I have been thinking for several days that I did not want these players at this price being asked. Am Ok having cap space to make moves after we find out who gets hurt.

Its fine. Everyone knows I don't like Bobby Ryan. He's more of a cancer than Semin will ever be at this point.

Sorry but when you whine about how shitty your team is or if you dont want to play for your team, your on par with Luongo as far as Im concerned.

**** Bobby Ryan and his "I only want to play for Philly" attitude! At least Luongo shut up about it til he had no choice,..... Id rather see Luongo or Semin in the Indianhead over him at this point.... and that says alot.

Over Bobby Ryan... Hell. Yes. Sorry, but Ryan has to really grow up...

My question to those who want Ryan is this ------ Do you want a player who verbally stated he didn't want to play for you? Not to mention that, but do you think it was a good idea for him to whine to the media about this? Dont you think that due to this, he might be a lazy player instead? I am confused with you guys on that.

Have any links to this?
