They should focus up anf sign Oduya - go all out and sign him for two years!

Same thing was said last year for Campoli, but the agent got in the way and he ended up getting less or about the same as what Stan offered somewhere else ( Montreal?).

If they don't sign Oduya, somebody is bamboozaling somebody.

What's bamboozaling?

Yeah, the odds of Oduya having a good playoff run is a lot higher than Emery, and his asking price will just go up. They've seen enough of him to recognize he's a real asset to the team, and cheap if you use the Emery formula.

He makes 3.5 mil per year right now. I don't see how that's cheap unless he takes less next contract, maybe for longer years.

Yeah the only thing I don't like about Oduya is the price tag on him. 3.5 or more for a 3rd pair guy is just too damn much.

Well then they could not re-sign him and then find out all over again that, wow, a player like Brian Campbell was really missed......again. And then try to find a player like that....again. And who's over Oduya that makes him a third pairing, it can't be Hammer (and that's probably a third pairing guy that makes 3.5 million). Remember that Campbell's contract was justified with this reasoning by a lot of people. And now we got a guy making half as much and who represents that same kind of importance and now he's too expensive? Which way is it?

Campbell > Oduya. Campbell was also 2nd pair guy that could have played first pair but we had Dunc and Seabs.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Honestly, I think one of Stan's biggest gaffes this year was overloading our roster with waiver eligable players. Morrison was not needed at all and I think we could have gotten by, in retrospect, without one of O'donnel or Lepisto. Because we were loaded on our roster with waiver eligable players, guys like Shaw, Hayes, and other rookie contributors had to be in Rockford and not help the team while ballast players had to be pressboxed or iced.

What does the case have to do with Oduya? I think the only way Oduya signs here is if we offload a deadwood roster player to make sure that we can call up rookies and have pressbox space for any further deadwood players. In other words, I think one of Frolik, Hammer, or Montador will end up going if we want to resign him.

RK putting someone on ignore... bullshit. I don't believe it. That's like saying the hawks will have the best powerplay in the playoffs.

That has nothing to do with what I said at all in that post. I'm not saying Oduya is a better player. Never said that. I'm saying he represents the same type of importance that Campbell did, and a lot of people here recognized that after the deal was done and saw how much he helped. To quote others a few weeks after they got Oduya and his impact: "This shows how much the Hawks missed Campbell." And that kind of player that has that kind of impact is too expensive compared to what? Brunnette at 2 million playing fourth line? Frolik being a healthy scratch? Montador, whose head is in orbit of the moon right now and is signed for another 3 years with a limited NTC?

And you didn't answer my question. Who's over Oduya that puts him third pairing on this team?

It helps to keep your sanity by being able to ignore some of the ridiculousness that goes around in here.

Why let a poster or two ruin your experience here? The ignore feature is one that I use myself.

Campbell's paid twice as much, too.

Thats the only one. I debated and for my sanity thought it was best. So the ONLY time I see posts are when it's direct quoted.

And with

88-19-81

10-7

It might very well be the best PP in the playoffs!

Like I said the excuse of him being too expensive doesn't make much sense compared to what they are dealing with right now and they've dealt with in the past. Montador may be done, I don't see O'Donnel coming back, I don't see Brunnette coming back (whether Beckett leaps or not), and I don't see Lepisto coming back. They're going to have close to 7 million in cap space. Do you really want to not re-sign a guy, as long as it's not unreasonable, that you KNOW and have seen making as much an impact on the team as he does just to try and take a chance to find another player like that in the offseason? Who might be at or around the same price tag anyways?

Q changed it, he's got Oduya on the 2nd pair. He started 3rd pair. I didn't notice he moved Hammer down. Either way hammer or Oduya 3.5 mil on the 3rd pair is just dumb.
