Oh well... the Hawks are fried.

It will be nice seeing Scott hoist the cup in a blueshirt this summer. I guess that's something to look forward too.

Three more games with the Blues? Too lazy to check. Mayers will be a very busy man.

Hopefully Carcillo is back before the playoffs. As much of a Special person that he can be... team will need his physicality if they want to compete with Vancouver/Nashville.

You know, the more I look at what transpired today, the more I don't understand what the **** this team is doing... Are Hammer and Monty both out for the rest of the season? That's the only way picking up Oduya and trading Scott makes sense. If not, why not just waive Lepisto? He's probably not going to play another game all season anyways...

Keith

Seabrook

Montador(if not done for season)

Olsen

Hammer(if not done)

Leddy

Oduya

O'Donnell

Lepisto

How the **** is Lepisto ever going to play again? Do the Hawks really need to carry nine defensemen? So the Hawks traded Scott so they could bring up Shaw? Or is that 5th round pick really that valuable? I'm lost, as are the people running this shit show, apparently.

If Hammer and Montador are both done for the season, wouldn't it then have made sense to keep Scott as a spare defenseman?

Btw, Scott was not happy. He made mention of him just having a baby and it going to be very hard to pick up and move now. Don't believe for a second that the team doesn't feel this trade either as he is well liked.

P.S. John Scott was also the Blackhawks' union rep.... This trade has "**** you players" written all over it.

Playoffs! Are you talking about playoffs?? PLAYOFFS? Really? Those are not going to include us or Jim Mora. Grin.

Also, someone was saying that, after we dealt the AHL defenseman (who was on an NHL contract) for future considerations and took back an AHL contract, that put us at 47 contracts. Were were really at 50 after adding Oh do ya? If we were then that earlier number must have been wrong I guess. Damn shame either way.

Edit...just read about us putting Hutton on an NHL deal so that still leaves the number I heard last week off by two.

Yah that's possible Pez maybe those injuries are more severe. Or\and it could mean olsen gets sent back to the farm until he learns how to skate a bit better. I like the kid but he sure the **** needs to work on that skating of his. He's not ready despite everyone loving him way to early.

Interesting though you brought up those numbers. I didn't think along those lines.

FYI... after Scott wins the Cup this year with the Rangers.... the Hawks could always re-sign him as an UFA.

I would love to see that regardless of whether he wins a cup. I hope he would want to do that after being uprooted right after having a baby.

I really hope he comes back in the off season. I'm pissed about this, and am thoroughly convinced Stan doesn't know what the **** he is doing.

he's been hammering square pegs into a round hole all season.

True about being uprooted... but you have to think a player like him must also be flattered to be a TDL acquisition by a team that is one of the favorites for the Cup.

Wouldn't you be flattered?

While I didn't like Scott when we signed him and never came to like him on this roster, this move is just bullshit. He was getting league minimum, was not the problem in this recent downfall, and from what we've been told on here he was very well liked. To me you move someone like Stalberg who IS part of the problem, a player who has value RIGHT NOW yet does not contribute that much. This teams in desperate need of the great two way players we had when we won the cup, the likes of Stalberg, Bickell, Brunnette etc. that came to replace Versteeg, Ladd, Madden, Brouwer, Kopecky or whoever you wanna pull from the 2010 roster is just a fucking joke. I said it in the off-season and now its a reality.

To me we did not need Oduya, we needed Talbot, Laich, Travis Moen. Guys who WERE available (off-season or earlier today) and play a multi faceted game, not this "I can skate fast and pot 20 goals while playing with 2 of the best in the game". We needed players who hit, kill penalties, play all around hockey. When teams are comprised of players like that they go places, Toews is the best captain in the league, but most of the guys he's leading just don't get it.

ALL HAIL DALE.

From my assumptions of this trade:

- We have clowns on the ice.

- We have elephants on the bench.

- We have monkeys running the front office.

It's as if the circus never left!

Jesus, we traded John Scott, it's not like he was doing much outside of playing 3 minutes a night or sitting in the press box. Sure I get that he was a good locker room guy. I get that he's a tough hombre. Trust me I'm a fan of old school hockey. But John Scott wasn't able to keep guys at bay as much as everyone thinks he did.

St. Louis still had no problem running Kane and Toews with Scott on the bench. Neither did the Nucks in the playoffs. In today's NHL you need guys like Mayers, Chris Neil, Konopka, Carcillo, Ott, Shawn Thornton, Travis Moen who can play a regular shift (more then 3 minutes a game) and who will take on the other teams jackasses. While Scott would take on anyone, there really wasn't many who wanted to fight him and they still ran around taking shots even though Scott was on the bench. If the instigator penaly wasn't around, Scott would then be great to have. Till then, he's a one dimensional player.

I've always been on the fence with Scott. He seems like a good guy but he wouldn't play in the playoffs anyway so I guess people are worried about missing the "lockerroom" aspect of him and not his on ice actions by being traded?

Toews concussion, Hammer concussion, Montador concussion, Sharp broken wrist, Kruger concussion. Who exactally has Scott protected this year? I just see more value having a player on the team that gets regular minutes instead of less than 5 minutes a game and glares at people. The days of the enforcer will soon be over and replaced by skilled players. It's happening already.

I don't think you could waive Lepisto. I think the Hawks are at the 50 max contracts. So unless someone would take them off waivers or in a trade you couldn't add a D man. Unless you were to send Olsen down, which he's getting valuable minutes and not playing terrible with Seabrook.

I'm more mad about what Stan didn't bother to add. There were lots of players that would have filled two holes on this team and he added NONE of them.

He's clearly admitting this team is no where near winning the Cup, and or he lacks the experience to find the right additions.

Vermette, Gill, there were a lot of guys that would have filled the two roles of depth we need. Instead Scooter failed. Thanks for firing Tallon Rocky.

Rangers aren't winning the Cup. When they get by the Bruins maybe then you'll have me thinking they can.
