He probably does. Would have to look that up, but sounds like a typical Cubs thing eh?

Athletic with a pretty swing and no concept of the strike zone? Nope that doesn't sound like a Cubs prospect at all.

Ah I was wrong, but I know he has never hit for much power (for a poor defensive corner infielder) so I think the joke still works. At least that is the story I am sticking with.

Hmmm...

Rockies Notes: Prado, Jurrjens, Spilborghs, Ross: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

Renck is "not sure" if the Rockies still have any interest in Paul Maholm. The Rockies and Cubs are the only two clubs known to be connected to Maholm this winter. The Cubs can possibly be counted out of the running due to their recent acquisition of Travis Wood, but more spots could open in the Chicago rotation should Matt Garza and/or Randy Wells be dealt.

Just speculation, of course.

A 4 team trade (kinda):

Blue Jays: Matt Garza (Cubs), mid 'spect from Rays

Padres: Wade Davis, Carlos Marmol and a mid 'spect from Jays

Rays: Prospect from Jays (in their top 10) and Trey McNutt

Cubs: Rizzo, 2 top spects from Jays and am low 'spect from Rays

Yeah it's hard lol. Just a little something that will be WAY off.

After looking over the trade, the Cubs wold need more in the trade. A 4 team trade is too hard, I'll post a 3 team trade.

3-team trade:

Padres: James Russell, Antony Gose and PTBNL

Blue Jays: Matt Garza

Cubs: Anthony Rizzo, Kyle Drabeck Deck McGwire and Justin Nicolino

Cubs' perspective:

They get a cheap young 1B in Rizzo with a lot of potential. It'll also save move for not signing Fielder. Drabeck will come in and be inserted in the starting rotation and have success from coming over from the AL West to the NL Central. McGwire is not ready for the majors, but he'll either start in Double A in '12 and be called up to Triple A qucik. Or he'll start in Triple A to start '12. Then if an injury occurs to the startying rotation he'll get the call or a Septemer call-up. Nicolino is much farther away then the others, but looks like a promiing young player. He will join other plsyers from this year's draft Maples, Dunsto, Baez and Vogelback and make the futue look good as hell. He would likely start in Daytona Cubs (High A).

Also, the Cubs can throw money at Cuban' OF Yoenis Cespedes or Soler. Soler looks more likley now. Maybe down the road we could see an OF of Brett Jackson (LF), Soler (CF) and Sczcur (RF). That would be fun to watch. A fun, fast and atletic outfield.

Rotation:
1) Ryan Dempster
2) Carlos Zambrano
3) Travis Wood
4) Kyls Drabeck
5) Randy Wells

**** Zambrano, Dempster and even Wells could be traded by opening day. So.. much could still change. Also, the Cubs could sign the likes of Jeff Francis, Joe Saunders or Paul Maholm. Don't forget about more pitchers the Cubs could acquire that are mahor-league ready. That could mean Andy Sonnanstein has a good chance to make the team out of spring training

Relief pitching:
Closer: Carlos Marmol
Set-up: Andrew Cashner
Set-up: Kerry Wood (still expect the Cubs to re-sign him)
RP: Chris Carpetner
RP: Rafael Dolis:
RP: Jeff Believeu

**** I still think there's a good chance Marmol will be traded and Marmol/Cashner will platoon in the closer role. Manny Corpas and/or Andy Sonnanstein will be in the 'pen come '12.

Jays' perspective: They are losing young talent, but get a good young starter in Garza with 2 years of control. They want to win it now so it would be a win now move. They can also sign Fielder to a contract and the Jays will be a team to watch out for. They will be able to compete with the red Sox and Yanks if all goes right.

Padres' perspective: They get a good young left-hand relief pitcher in Russell. They have had interest in Russell this off-season. He's cheap and under team contol for years too. Gose is an up and coming young OF who does has potential. The Padres can wait on him and watch him grow as a player. Also, they receive a PTBNL that the Cubs or Jays will decide on later. The Padres do not need Rizzo as he's blocked by Yonder Alonzo.

But a trade will still be hard to work out and I know this will not happen. This was just fun.

It sort of looks like the Blue Jays and Padres get screwed in your hypothetical trade, Waldo.

Yeah, maybe... but the Jays are going to have to pay for Garza or he's staying. Rizzo stock is pretty low now because of the acqusition of Alonso.

It's been said they will give up 4 players for Garza. The PTBNL going to the Padres could end up being good. Gve the Jays McNutt, I don't care lol.

and the cubs would have to eat 90% of his contract(if traded)

I'm not certain they would have to eat that much of his contract when Paul Malholm is apparently going to get 2 years 12-14 million. I don't know how great of a prospect they will get without eating some of that salary though.
