Do we really want to make a deal for Turner and the other stuff that is in a pretty weak Tigers farm system because we aren't going to get Turner and Castellanos? Turner is better than any of the arms the Jays can give us, but the rest of the package is probably going to be pretty meh.

They're probably trying to figure that out right now. Depends on how desperate the Tigers are, I guess.

I really, really doubt that the Tigers would part with both of them since they weren't willing to do that for Gio Gonzalez who they would have gotten for longer. I don't know a ton a part from those names so I am guessing that when weighing the offers between the Jays and the Tigers the choice is going to be taking the best pitcher or more quality prospects. Not sure which is the better choice.

Now if the Tigers want to get desperate and are willing to part with Turner and Castellanos then that is a different story.

Yes we do. We absolutely do. Turner is just as good as Banuelos. Might be a little better. He's really fucking good. My guess is Andy Oliver or Drew Smyly comes with. Both are intriguing prospects. I think that in order to get Castellanos, we'd have to throw on piece. Not really sure who they would want, so I think Castellanos is unlike. However, Turner and Oliver or Smyly and a position prospect or two would be a nice deal.

Turner is very good. The question is what do the rest of the pieces look like. The Blue Jays have a lot more depth in their system and their second (as well as pieces beyond that if more are involved) piece is likely to be much much better than what the Tigers offer. That is the question that they are going over right now and we can only guess at this point. My guess is if the name Castellano was ever uttered by the Tigers along with Turner this trade would be done.

2011 Prospect Watch | cubs.com: Prospects

Jacob Turner is ranked 7th in all of MLB and looks like a potential #1.

I would also try and get 3B Nick Castellano which would give us another corner infield prospect as I do not trust Vitters to be anything.

Jacob Turner at 6'5" 220lbs and Andy Oliver at 6'3" 210lbs. give us the big power options that we do not have at the top of the rotation right now.

Class A outfielder Christian Yelich, 20, likely is on the Cubs’ wish list from the Marlins; he was among the players whom the Athletics targeted in their talks with the Marlins about Gonzalez, sources say.
Third baseman Matt Dominguez, first baseman Gaby Sanchez, outfielder Chris Coghlan and reliever Jose Ceda are among the other players the Marlins are willing to include in trades, according to rival clubs.

Jose Ceda was a Cubs prospect. First person to correctly name what Piece of Shit closer we traded him for wins.

The Marlins are in on Garza now and I love the names being mentioned.

The Cubs are believed to have prospect outfielder and 2010 first-round pick Christian Yelich on their radar while Rosenthal hears the Marlins are willing to part with the likes of first baseman Gaby Sanchez, outfielder Chris Coghlan, reliever Jose Ceda and third base prospect Matt Dominguez in potential trades.

UPDATE: The Marlins and Tigers are interested in Matt Garza | HardballTalk

Garza is gonna go to DET. Turner is gonna be in there. I'm so excited. Turner is a stud.

@dabs, Smyly or Oliver is a pretty damn good #2 piece in a deal and Turner is the best piece being offered.

LOL, the Tigers aren't giving up Jacob Turner for a guy like Garza.

Are you high?

is this guy an insider?

I don't know if he is or if he knows someone. He's got the hook ups though. That's forsure. I think that since the Theo regime took over, he's been more hit and miss though. I hope he's right. What he is saying is lining up with what MLBInsideNews is saying. So I think they may be onto something.

The Cubs are talking to a number of teams about Matt Garza -- Tigers, Marlins, etc. -- but no deal is imminent. They are going thru process.
