He's not worth Turner and Porcello. Turner and other good 'spects, yes.

And no one here said Garza was worth Turner and Porcello though many Tigers fan have talked about the Tigers getting another starter and then spinning Porcello for an upgrade at 2B. The scenario we talked about was trading Garza and Barney, which has no support as being actually talked about, but was just a fun scenario that made some sense for both sides.

CO with him going nuts over these trades reminds me of Jim in American Pie blowing his wad when Nadia breathes on him.

Talk about premature.

Jacob Turner and some prospects and lets get this done.

Turner moves directly into the big league rotation.

1. Dempster
2.
3. Turner
4. Wood
5. Wells

I think Turner probably needs a bit more seasoning...I mean, he's only like 20 years old

Yup. 6 BB/9, lots of strikeouts, no homers. Basically Marmol.

Hmm... for some reason I thought he was a starter, my bad.

Ya, and a 1.87 ERA to go with it... pretty nice.

ERA isn't a particular reliable stat when it comes to middle relievers. He is basically a less talented version of Marmol.

We sent Chris Archer, Hak-Ju Lee, Brandon Guyers, Sam Fuld, and Robinson Chirinos to Tampa Bay for Matt Garza, Fernando Perez, and Zachary Rosscup. So we should be able to get a big prospect like Turner, a couple more legitimate prospects, and a throw-in.

Hmmm... what if we did Garza and Barney for Turner, Castellanos, and Alburquerque.

We could insert Turner into a rotation spot. Albuquerque is going to miss half of the season though, so maybe it wouldn't be the best move to get him... but he should be useful at some point in the 2nd half and beyond.

Then we could trade Marmol and hopefully Zambrano for whatever. Trade Byrd too.

Opening Day Line-up could be:
LF Alfonso Soriano
CF Brett Jackson
RF David DeJesus
3B Ian Stewart
SS Starlin Castro
2B Stopgap until Nick Castellanos is ready (Castellanos ETA = Late 2013 IMO)
1B Anybody
C Geovany Soto

Rotation:
SP Ryan Dempster
SP Randy Wells
SP Travis Wood
SP Andrew Cashner
SP Jacob Turner

We'll suck... big time, but that's why we're rebuilding and it gets us a nice draft pick.

I don't think you're going to get more than one elite prospect back for Garza. He's on the older side of the 20s, he's got less club-controlled years, and he's expensive, so he'll bring back less than Mat Latos or Gio Gonzalez. That's if the GM is smart. If the GM is dumb then maybe Theo/Jed can fleece him.

IK, still pretty nice though.

But reportedly we're asking for an insane package, so we'll be getting a lot if we do in deed trade him. The fact that multiple teams are talking with us should help too.

Yeah, the leverage is nice, but without more details I'm inclined to think it'll be one elite prospect (i.e. a Jacob Turner) plus filler.

I wish we could trade Dempster too, our rotation would be Wells, Wood, Cashner, Turner, McNutt.

I don't think Wells is good enough to be a #2 in that hypothetical rebuild to be honest

They also haven't released Zambrano yet.

Additionally, Matthews writes that the Cubs' asking price for Matt Garza is "out of the question" for the Yankees. He says the Cubs want at least two and possibly all three of Jesus Montero, Manny Banuelos, and Dellin Betances.
